I think Frank Jenkins' under dash panel is the perfect solution.

I made a bad mistake when I installed my new gauges, did not find it until last night, turned on the lights and I could not read the gauges even though they were brightly lit.
Red Needles and Red Fingernail polished light bulbs don't work. Embarassed never gave it a thought.
I need to find some other color, maybe I will try just removing the polish but my thoughts were that clear would be too reflective in the windshield seeing as how the lower panel is upward facing.
Any suggestions?

Check where the reflections fall, they might be "off the screen" so to
speak. Remove the polish and add a dimmer. HTH.

I wish my problems were so seemingly easy.

That steering wheel is a standard GMC truck or van wheel if I remember correctly. I found mine on eBay for not a lot of money. It seems that the hub as pretty standard.
