I have posted over 50 pictures for those of you that enjoy hot rods. Just go to today's blog entry. Teri and I rode with this group from Effingham to DuQuoin today, 110 miles. We really had a good trip. GMC was just great on this trip. Already making plans to attend next year's Vdub fest. An uneventrul trip does not need to be a boring trip, especially when you own a GMC coach.

Hey Dan;

Those are GREAT pictures! Loved the little Pontiac station wagon.
Didn't see one 58 Chevy. Would really like to see these guys come
through one of our towns up here. Hope your leg and foot are OK.

be careful, trying to stop a GMC with your body could really be
dangerous.....

Car rally reminds me of going to a GOODGUY's show, where one car had more
money in chrome on the bottom of his car, than I had in money on my whole
GMC ;>)

Gary, I did not see one 58 Chevy. Saw several of the famous 3 years though. I feel very fortunate that I was able to run with these guys. Believe it or not I stayed ahead of a 40 Ford. It was fun to see these guys peel off in little towns for gasoline or to hit the car washes. Autozones were a big hit for them too. We just kept the GMC rolling, needed not gas, parts, or washes. They were leaving DuQuoin this morning heading to Bowling Green. If you want the sched. just google Hot Rod Power Tour.
Folks were lined up waiting as we hit the little towns along the 110 mile stretch. It was great fun.

Hey David;

Wasn't the Safari the one that looked like a Nomad?? I was talking
about the little red Pontiac wagon with the 455 in it. All I know is
that they all looked GOOD! My brother has a nice 1958 2-door Delray in
pieces with a 454 and 4-speed that I'm trying to get out of him. Will
make a great Towd for the Stretch.

Dan, hope you will be ok--sounds like you're lucky to be walking and not in
the hospital. Bob and I really enjoyed your power tour pictures and
comments. Thanks for sharing.

Reminds us when we were on the way to Alaska in '05. We ran across the
Great American Race and rode with those guys for about 50 miles. It IS
exciting and fun.

Keep in mind, for the future, "Kool April Nites" in Redding, CA. We were
there after GMC Intl in Santa Rosa and that is a fun show, too. We sat and
watched the cars make a route through town continuously for two hours. I
got over 200 pictures of some fantastic and unusual cars.

Terri, I'm still not geocaching--don't have a buddy to got with, but still
have the interest. Take care of Dan.

Fred, I had to take it out as it was kicked by some of the email providers.
danandteri.blogspot.com

This past weekend was absolutely awesome. So glad we have the GMC. More folks looked at it than they did my bug.
Of course the car folks loved my glass engine cover.

Sandra, Teri had a little frown when I relayed no geocaching.
She has not been asked to do another seminar but will hold a little training session for anyone that wants to hear. As you can see in the blog, we have a ball doing it and get to see lots of out of the way places. Learned a lot about Effingham this weekend from geocaching.

Hello Gary;
I was refering to the wagon in the 5th or 6th picture down from the top. It has the Nomad style roof and windows, but not the radius wheel wells. The wagon with the 455 in it looks like a "Tempest".

We got home at 4 pm. At 430 the bug ran over me and Teri had to take me to the hospital in Sikeston. I dropped the towbar and the bug started rolling back. I ran and opened the door, then attempted to jump in. Just as I got in the seat the left front wheel grabbed my left foot and yanked me back out. Wow, that smarted. I was dragged into the street after the car got my foot and lower leg. Nothing broken just really banged up. I have crutches but hope I dont need them tomorrow. Might need a wheel chair, who knows. May really be sore when I wake up.

smarted when it happened!

I am fine, thanks for asking Sandra. A little road rash and some swelling but I can get around fine today without crutches. I wont make that mistake again.

Dan,

Sure glad you weren't hurt worse. It's hard to visualize the event --
the left wheel got you and dragged you out of the seat? Under the
door??? WOW!

Starting NOW, before disconnecting the tow bar, I'm going to reach
into the grille and flip the breakaway switch for the toad brakes!
Since I use an ordinary toggle switch with a frangible link, I can
flip it off & on as often as I like.
