If anyone can remember back to Jan 2008, you'll recall that we of the GMCNet
community were instrumental in helping Sumter Regional Hospital win a new
Siemens MRI machine to replace the one lost in the March 2007 tornado which
literally destroyed the hospital.
Well, we still won't have a new hospital until next year, but the ribbon
cutting for the MRI, located in the temporary facility, is tomorrow!
On behalf of all of us here in this area who will benefit from the $800,000+
medical device, I want to thank all of you who repeatedly viewed the video
and voted in favor of us.

I'd like to second or third or whatever Ken's congrats. Unless you live in a community that suffers a loss like ours - devastating tornado that totally destroyed our regional hospital, you can not imagine the good feeling that comes from such an event. Thanks to Ken and all the people in this group and others that voted for Americus and Sumter county. I had no idea!

Stick,
I'd forgotten that you had no idea of the tremendous support we got from
GMCers. After I announced the contest and our situation,
we had unbelievable support -- at least dozens, maybe hundreds of folks from
Holland to Australia voting for us daily -- many of them from multiple
computers. Periodic reminders, from others as well as me, kept the votes
flowing right up to the cutoff time. We even had at least one GMCer in the
immediate area of the competition voting for us instead.
Just one more reason you REALLY want to join this cult. :-)
I just wish there was some way to let everyone in our area know how
enthusiastically they were supported by all our members.

Ken: It chilled my spine when I saw the last tally numbers. Then to get disqualified for not being able to use it "now", then given one anyway cause of the # of votes and support. It was a beautiful day.
