Good Evening Everyone
I need some help on disk brake pads.
I repacked my rear bearings today, our coach has disk brakes on the center axle. I discovered that one set of the disk pads were destroyed and dragging. I'm thankful I found it, we're leaving in 3 days for a long Memorial Day weekend and I'm sure that would have caused a lot of heat and possibly a big problem.
Does anyone have the Napa or ??? part number for the rear disk pads handy or something to reference??
Thanks for the help !

Ray,
There's no way to be sure what pads are needed for your center brakes
without more information. But, chances are, they're the original front
calipers move to center, in which case you can just get pads for a Toronado
(or 'most any other GM product of that era). D-52 is the old designation;
whether that's current, I don't know.
I recommend the Performance Friction pads, available from AutoZone, etc.

I brought my disk pads into Auto Zone and they just matched the pads. I too have center Disk's.
My Harrison Parts list states:
Brake pad set Carbon Metallic. I don't think I bought Carbon Metallic. They just matched my existing pads.
GM - 15618257
Wagner - SX728A
Hope this helps.

John Evans is the supplier of the carbon metallic to the GMC Group.
You can buy from him direct at his email address at 2455eva@pce.net or
call him at 716-652-6868 or you can buy them from Jim K who carries
John's brakes.
See:
http://www.appliedgmc.com/prod.itml/icOid/607
They are not available from a local supplier.

No Robert, even when you pay cash for any guaranteed part from Autozone; they enter it in their computer. All you need is to take back the worn out part, they check the computer and give you a new set. They look it up by my telephone number. They have pads listed for me, 5 cars back.

Don,
So when you take the part back you give them your phone number and they look
up the warranty.
Do they ask you to prove you are who you say your are by looking at your
drivers license or some other form of ID?

I might be partial, but the Yellow pads from EBS is what we carry.
It has helped people stop well even when cold as it is ceramic and has
more coefficient of friction than any on the market.

I don't think so, but you know, CRS.
I'm standing there with worn pads, the computer says I bought said pads some time ago, they hand me some new ones. Enter those in the computer too.

Jim,
EBS pads were my choice when I was building hot rod Harleys in Hong Kong. A
lot of the guys had chrome plated disks and the EBS Kevlar compound stopped
the best and wore the disks the least. I assume the Yellow pads are also
Kevlar.
I went with the carbon metallic because they are what Dave Lenzi used,
however, as you. Dave, and Jim B pointed out they're not for everybody as
you have to warm them up to achieve the best coefficient of friction.

Don,
Bottom line: next time I need brake pads I'll:
1) buy Performance Friction at AutoZone
2) put the receipt in the coach
3) hope I remember that they have a lifetime warranty
4) tell the NO (next owner) so he can try to get replacements FOC also
However, this does beg the question; "is this honest?"
Thanks,

Rob,
Don't know if they mean for the lifetime of the vehicle -- suspect for the duration you, the parts buyer, continue to own.
