G'day,
I am happy to pack up my GMC and head of just about anywhere, as long as I have my tool box and a few spares packed.
A couple of weeks ago I get a call from a mate, "A few motorhomer's are getting together for the mothers day weekend, you and Gail interested?" Sure why not, it's only 30 miles away.
On the day I just threw in some food,drink and clothes and hosed down the windows.... BANG. Split the left screen from top to bottom right on the curve, and I haven't even left the house!
Now I am trying to get the screens (shields) replaced, the right screen is badly scratched, so might as well bit the bullet and get both done. The glass suppliers here are keen to have a go at replacing the screen but can find no listings for them. I have found listings for them in the States, but only local shipping. Have any of you overseas GMC owners ever had windshields shipped to you? If so who and how?
By the way we still had a great weekend.

The packing charge is about $75.00 and the shipping charge is an additional $75.00 per windshield. That is for US delivery.
I set up a pair of windshields to go to Europe a few years ago. In that case the GMC owner knew someone that had a container going his way and we just put them the container. These things are huge with the packing material around them and they take up a lot of space in a container.
We can get them shipped to a US port but after that someone needs to get them in a container. That is my best idea for you. They could also be inside a car or a motor home being shipped to Australia. I do not know of anyone shipping on tht way.
These are just a couple of ideas for you. There are lots of empty containers going from here to China. I do not know if that helps.

The windsheilds in my GMC Explorer were made by Arva in Finland who are now part of Pilkington Glass.
Arva-Pilkington seem to specialise in small runs of automotive glass for the older collector and exotic car market.
I would contact Pilkington UK and see If they can get you the glass through one of there distributors in the asia pacific region, or maybe one of the USA stockists of GMC windshields could arrange to have it shipped direct from the Arva factory or warehouse to you?

Hi Mark,
I ordered my new windshields two years ago with Gateway motorhome parts http://www.gmcmotorhomeparts.com/
They were the only ones that would ship to The Netherlands.
On the way to Houston Texas one windshield was wrecked by personnel, it took a couple of weeks to discover that one was broken, looked like the shipping company had forgotten about the windshields, after a couple of e-mails it became clear one was broken and a new windshield was shipped by Gateway. Gateway was very correct and swift, other than the shipping company that was recommended to me by someone else. Then a couple of weeks later they came in in Amsterdam and we put them in, they are still the shiniest item in my GMC
