Hi Billie & Lanny:
Well we did it!
Pat and I traveled to Arkansas on May 5, 2010, and finalized a trade of our
GMC for the 1989 Winnebago Spectrum 2000 (32ft 8in long) with the 7.3L Ford
turbo power stroke diesel pusher. It is Winnebago's version of a larger and
updated classic GMC. It had less than 500 miles on it when we left El
Dorado, Arkansas heading back to San Antonio.
We averaged 11.5 MPG before we developed fuel starvation problems east of
Tyler on Sunday, May 9, 2010.
We look forward to continuing our association with the GMCMI (if you will
allow us) and attending as many rallies as we can.
We plan to travel as much as we can subject to our allowable budget for
diesel fuel.

Hi Bob,
I have one of those beasts too, but it has the original 460 V8 and 3 speed
?C6? transmission. I won't post pictures because everyone would laugh at it
compared to yours. I saw yours several times when at ElDorado visiting Don
and getting copies of the sketchy documentation he has on wiring diagrams,
etc. They are great looking coaches, but unfortunately don't have the
support group we enjoy here, and I think Don is winding down his
involvement.
If you email me off line, I will send you copies of the documentation I
scanned if you are interested. It is spotty, at best, but far better than
nothing!

Dumb question here about the colonel: Is that some sort of satellite dome on the front of the colonel and does it work? Also, i notice a picture of "central air". Does that lower the overall ceiling height?

Hi Stick:
The dome on the forward part of the roof of The Colonel is a satelite disk for the TV made by King Dome. The on in The Colonel was a stationary system only now they have the in motion systems. Yes they work if you also sign up for either Direct TV or the Disk Network.
The picture showing the central AC is not for The Colonel. It is a picture of the cebtral AC in my new to me SOB.
If you have any questions, just give me a shout. I will be glad to provide you any information about The Colonel and the contact information of Mr. Don Hearin the owner of SIV. He is currently in Florida visiting with his daughter's family.
