Currently, my 73 has an air gauge, indicator light and toggle switch mounted to a piece of plastic sticking out of the crack where the dash pad connects to the dash. This is the little area to the left of the dash. The piece of flat plastic is broken. Looking at it, you can tell it didn't grow there and was added by the PO. I'd like to mount the gauge and an illuminated toggle switch in the panel directly to the left of the driver's seat. I can see a few screws up by the window and some on the bottom of the panel. I've removed those, but there still seems to be something holding it tight at the front of the panel near the dash and something behind the driver's seat. It's quite brittle so I've avoided yanking on it.
Does anyone have experience with this panel's removal that they can share?
Thanks in advance.

Eddie,
It's been a long time since I was in there, but IIRC, there's at least one
fastener at the forward end of the side panel securing it to the dash -- the
dash and the sidepanel each have flanges and the screw penetrates them from
the dash side. It's a bear to get to and remove. But it's easy compared to
the rear end of the side panel: That has a flange which is secured to the
coach body BEFORE the side panel behind there -- the cabin wall -- is
installed. So the wall panel has to come off before you can remove the
driver/passenger side panel -- without breaking anything.
Sorry to bear such sad tidings, but that's the way I remember it. Thank
goodness, I planned ahead for R&R when I replaced my dash & side panels. :-)

Unfortunately, Ken is right. There are fasteners under the dash and behind the side paneling at the rear end of the driver's panel. There also was a metal bar that held the bottom of the underdash cover that was attached to the side panel in my 75.
If I understood correctly, I believe that Mike Bozart (GEMRECS)was making replacement panels available out of fiberglass. It may well be worthwhile to simply replace the side panel as I'm sure it's as brittle as mine was when I redid that area.
Good Luck with your project!

When I had concerns about removing the panel on the left of the driver seat and right of the passenger seat, I have Jim B a call for any hints.
He said the same thing, where the panel meets the dash, there is a connection there.
The rear of that panel is connected in some way to the wall panel.
His suggestion was to cut the panel from the wall neatly so it did not look bad after you put it back.
I'd give JimB a call for his side of the story.

It's Frank Jenkins who's making the fiberglass side panels. Beautiful they
are, too. He had a pair at Bean Station 2 weeks ago.
