Well, I just got home from the Dayton Hamfest. While I was there I met with both Jim Millers (Junior and Senior) several times. One of their GMCs is always parked in two of the 2500 or so available flea market spots.

Jim Senior asked me to please spread word that you can arrive for the work rally on any day and stay as long as you wish. I believe the announcement only stated next Friday and Saturday.

You are welcome to come and spend the week, or the week end, or as many days as you have available. I'm headed back down there next Wednesday.

So come on over to Hamiliton this week and enjoy a good time.

WiFi service will be provided by Jim Miller. 110 volt power is available.

No club affiliations. No dues. Just show up and bring your favorite GMC work project that you wish to work on.

We will also have a set of scales available.

If I remember to bring it, there will be A/C gauges, vacuum pump, and some Duracool.

I also plan at least one visit to my favorite Cincinnati junk yard. Jim Sr. says he also has another one to go visit that is much closer.

Ken,

When you see them this week, please tell the Millers "Hey" for me and thank you. They are three special people, I only wish we could see them more often. Great folks.

Ya'll have a great rally. I'll be with THE CRABS at our opener for this season.

Where are you with "The Crabs"? We're in Maryland and might want to check
out what's going on.

I must say that this is one great gathering. I was there last year and we had an absolute blast. there are no more gracious hosts than the 3 Millers. It was obvioust to me that they just love having folks gather on their property. We had a pit available last year too. Any chore that can be done in a couple of days is not too large. Just let folks know in advance wo help can be lined up. Bob Burkitt is close and he is a very gracious guy. Last year he brought his coach for Ken and me to sleep in.
You will not attend a better, small, gathering.

I guess this means we don't have to buy ice cream. Big Jim was wondering. He
didn't want any complaints this year from a certain social butterfly who
shall remain anonymous.

We'll still miss you.

OK. For whomever asked, Today I went to the airport and picked up the scales and torsion bar unloader tool. They are now in my pickup and will be at Hamilton.

I have a request. I know I supplied the ride height distances between the BOTTOM OF THE FRAME and the ground here on two occasions inthe past. I do not have those numbers at the moment. I could use them now so I can cut some measuring blocks tonight.

Anyone one out there have the numbers available?

From my 1976 supplement:

Front: 13 1/8" +/- 1/4"

Rear : 11 1/16" +/- 1.4"

Both measured from ground to elongated slots
on the frame rails.

You'll have to subtract the distance between
those slots and the bottom of the frame to get
the correct height for the blocks.

Thanks. I have those numbers. I need the numbers from the bottom of the frame. I had some blocks cut but gave them away. I am not near a coach to measure the difference between the holes in the frame and the bottom of the frame.

OK, I found the numbers but I do not believe them. I'll need to measure them again. The numbers I have are 8-7/16 vs.11-11/16 to the hole for the rear and 11-1/8 vs. 13-1/8 to the hole for the front. I do not understand why there is a 1/4 inch difference between the front and the rear. Oh well, I'll measure them again when we get a coach on the pit in Hamilton.

Thanks

Ken,

I just went out and looked to see if I could understand what y'all are
talking about. I found the slots, they are 2-1/2 inches above the bottom of
the frame in front and back. However, there is no convenient spot to put a
block under the slot in front. My guess is that you place the block at a
convenient spot a bit aft where there is an additional thickness of frame
which gives you the 1/4" difference.

I can send a picture if you'd like.

Ken

Now I'm really confused over 1/4 inch.

The book says:
front 13-1/8" to the top of the holes
rear 11-11/16" to the top of the holes

The wood block measurements I have written down are:
front 10-1/8"
rear 8-7/16"

This means the difference is:
front 3"
rear 3 1/4"

After I wrote the numbers down in this note and read your posting about the double thickness of the frame where you would use the block, it now makes sense.

I'll go cut some new blocks.

I do not need the pictures, but some others here might like to see what we are talking about.

Thanks.

Sandra,

We "offically" will be a the Hagarstown, MD. Koa (Friday thru Sunday) but some of us are going up early on Thursday.
We have a great relationship with the owners and they really make sure we have a good time.

It might be quickest to make your reservation thru the campground and ask them if they can get you in close to us CRABS. We'd love to meet you.

Thanks, Jim. We'll check our map and see if we are anywhere near
Hagarstown. Right now we're planning to go to Point Lookout State Park on
Friday; however, we could change our plans. If we find that we can do that,
we'll let you know.

Jim, we checked and are only about 100 miles away. What KOA will the rally
be held? Let me know and we'll try to come up on Friday.

Thanks in advance.

I did not make it there today. I'll throw some clothes in the truck and head that way in the morning. It is about a 5 hour drive plus an hour time change.

Ken -

Thanks for the update, I never heard what your housing plans are. Are you
crashing in one of the Miller coaches as you indicated earlier?

I will be tied up tomorrow afternoon with meetings and other from about 2:30
until after 7:00.

Bob
