A couple week ago I anounced to this auster group that I was going to part
company with General. He is for sale. All went well at first. Over 500
people visited my website and several expressed interest. Last Saturday I
closed a sale with a young couple that I believe will be a fine addition to
the GMC Group.
Then the General rebelled, I had parked him at the Car Mart(Fair Grounds)
on Friday. First thing Sunday morning we went to pick him up. He wouldn't
start. No spark!!. I spent the day chasing the problem and replacing
parts. No luck. At 4:00 PM I called a tow truck and the General met the
"Hook". We towed it to the shop that takes care of those things I can't.
Finding nothing obvious, they recommended a rebuild of the distributor.
The rebuild was installed last night and the fire was back. Today the
mechanic went to fire it up and set the timing. *NO FIRE !! *The
distributor is on it's way back to the shop were it was rebuilt for bench
testing.
I have searched past emails from the GMC list to no avail.
Help............. Anybody
Mike,
The General's driver.

Mike, from your friend, Bob Price, who met you at Valley of the Rogue SP in
'08: "If they rebuilt the distributor and did it right, your problem is not
the distributor. Inside, in the base of the distributor, is the base pickup
in the distributor. There is a difference in a Chevy and and Olds base
pickup. Be sure they used the Olds, because they are different. If the
distributor is correct, they need to check the coil and the fire to the
distributor to be sure all is ok with that." Good luck.

Mike, we hope all goes well and will be looking forward to meeting the new
owners. Sorry you had to resort to selling. All the best for the future.
