Good Morning

Well, I fired up the coach for the first time this spring on Saturday, 3 pumps on the gas pedal and bang, she fired right up as if she couldn't wait to get rolling for another season.

Let it run for quite awhile and then tested the dash A/C, within a short time it was discharging 52 degree air, FIRST SPRING that it didn't lose it's charge !!

Looks like converting to duracool was a GREAT MOVE !!! Can't wait to get her out on the road again !

Ray,
52 on its own sounds good but what was the ambient (intake) temperature ? Hope it wasn't 54! Seriously though I haven't had to touch mine for 5 years.

Go on and get out there and put some miles on that GMC, guaranteed to make your attitude on life a whole lot better!

I am still running R12, see no reason to change. I still find R12 for 12-15 bucks a can so why change? I have at least 20 cans put up. Uses maybe 1 can every other year. Cold as ice. I did rebuild the unit first however.

Ray,
My Caprice wagon lost some of it's charge over the winter so I had it
evacuated and came home and put in a single can of HC12a (Duracool)
Man, I need another can. It's blowing 27 deg on an 80 deg day but
thanks to no humidity, it doesn't ice over. I need another case
anyway. I can't believe how well that stuff works.

IIRC, the secret is to use Duracool as a replacement for R134a, after
converting your HC-12 system to R134a.
Properly suck all the HC 12 stuff out and change the fittings (or use the
adaptors) for R134a, then recharge with Duracool.
