Hey All;
The 455 in the Stretch is giving up the ghost. During my 4-month
drive-about, I was getting about 250mi/quart of oil (used 2 full
cases). During this current trip it's gone down to 200mi/quart and I'm
getting tons of blow-by when I pull the tube that goes from the valve
cover to the air cleaner. Always said that when the time came, I would
replace the 455 with the Chevy TD 6.5L engine. So this fall I'll be
tearing into it (or buying a SOB with a diesel in it). I think there
is a document floating around (written up by Hubler?) that details
this swap. I think I had asked GeneF if he had it, and I think he did
(I even think he sent it to me) but now I can't find it. Has anyone
seen this or done this or have any hints on this conversion? Thanks.

Hey Gary,
Got a nice HO 502 all machined up and the rotating assy is installed,
hand fitted rings. No camshaft, compression ratio 8.5:1
I'm not going to use it so I've got it on Craig's list. The shop you
and I visited in Tucson did the machine work.

I'd like to get rid of all of them Gary.
The camshaft is not part of the rotating assy as far as balancing is
concerned. Rods, pistons, rings, bearings, balancer and flywheel are
what gets balanced.
I didn't know Kerry was having any problems with his new motor. His
old one made it 187,000 miles before detonation ruined it.

Hey Steve;
Oh. Still no CL listing link, come on, give it to me. It seems that
he had been down more than once in that 187K miles with head problems
(and trans problems). Too much power?? I don't know...still, could be
interesting...

Gary,
pardon my dumpidity, but what's a CL listing link?
I think the real problem is too many fingers got into that engine.
Kerry is not a mechanic and with the remote two lane traveling he and
Leanne prefer, you just have to trust local yokels when you think
something's wrong. All of his problems were detonation caused. A bad
injector might have been the culprit but the constant lugging had
something to do with it.
