Which reminds me: about how much does it cost to replace an engine? Just want to be prepared if/when that has to happen...

thanks,

Jim K shows a 455 for $3,200. That's a start. Add in enough for the "while we're at it..." factor and you should be well under $10,000! I don't know what Jim B gets for his Jasper engines.

If you do it yourself it runs about 2,000. If you have someone else do it
I have heard as high as 10,000. Average around 5 to 6 thousand.

Joe Mondello has his 455 engine for $7999.00. Probably worth it if he does everything he says, and I think he does.

It depends on the source. Good rebuilders are getting hard to find as
the crate motor offerings from the dealerships have put many of them
out of business. This leaves the production builders.
A friend of mine just paid $4,000.00 for the removal and replacement
of the engine in his GMC. Add that to the cost of the engine itself
and you have a ballpark figure.

I think I'd better open shop. USAF retirement's not that good (but it is a
lot less greasy)! :-)

KenH - but then you would have to deal with CUSTOMERS! I'd stick with the USAF pension, as you would have to give up too much to deal with CUSTOMERS.

Well, yeah, that's right. I sorta forgot that from when I owned the
computer store. But I DIDN'T forget having to deal with employees.
