Hey everyone,

I have been down and out for a few weeks. I appreciate all the input and how
generous you all were at the Bisbee gathering. I have many ideas on what I
need to do to finish the inside of the GMC. I do have a question I bought a
new waste tank from Gmc motor home parts and Am going to assemble it this
weekend. I need to place the level sensor and a new I guess you would call
it the connection flange on the output of the new tank ( The white plastic
piece that attaches to the drain hole in the tank. What do I use to secure
these in place the old one looks as if it is held in by a silicone or epoxy
of some sort, the sensor is another story it is held in there by god knows
what it looks a little messy. I would like a nice clean look but of course
would like it very durable so I don't have to deal wit this again. Any input
would be great and thanks again to the Arizona GMC'ers who were great to my
wife and I in Bisbee.

John,

Not sure what you have --

on the old waste tank the white exit piece is plastic welded to the black tank.

As for the level sensor -- it can be replaced by sensors and eliminate the float valve arrangement.

Here is a link to Jim Bounds description of new level gauge set-up. JimK carries this or something similar as well..

That is the way I did mine Dennis. I used the old float level hole in
the tank to mount a clean out fitting. The sensors, and JRV monitor
panel have worked flawlessly for many years now.

Steve,
Is there anyway you could get me some pics of what you did for the hole were
the float sensor was? I learn best the visual way. Sorry the previous help
wasn't quite enough. And id there a web site or number to call to get the
new sensors and panel? Would like to get this finished this next week. On
another note a buddy of mine owns a boat shop and I was asking about a way
to seal the old plywood floors in the old beast. He mentioned using
fiberglass resin? What do you think? It would definitely make it solid and
waterproof. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks again for everything.

Speaking of waste tanks, here is a place that
makes over 500 marine fresh water tanks plus
many water and waste tanks for RVs

It might even be possible for one or more of
our vendors to convince the Ronco folks to
build direct replacements for the GMC tanks
at reasonable prices.

Heck, they might already have tanks that could
fit right in!

Go to the basic site below and then click on
the bar for "Holding Water Tanks" if that's
what you need.

John,
Everything on the rear face of the tank is pretty well masked by the
rear crossmember. If you look close, you can see a little of what I
did.

Steve,
Well looking at the tank I purchased and the white adapter they don't seem
to make sense when bonding them together. I called the outfit where I
purchases the parts and they couldn't tell me a thing. There is no way I can
attach the adapter to the tank. How do I send pictures like you do I would
show you what I mean. I am running in to a lot of little problems.

Thanks again

John,
Sending the pictures is PFM to me, I just put 'em up on Billy's site
then provide a link for you to click on so you can see them. Bo to
BDub's Chunk 'o Cyberspace and look for the GMC photo archives. I'm
sure there's a way to register and instructions on how to post photos
there.
Probably the best and easiest thing you can do is throw the tank in
your car or truck, take it to an RV Trailer supply place and see what
they can put together. You may just end up installing a block off
plate over the hole, then cobbling some fittings together to get you
what you want.

Mac,
Be glad that they even make them for us.
We purchase several at a time, but there will come a time when they will stop.
If we purchase 100 at a time, they will lower the price and so will I.

Hi, Jim.

I wasn't aware that there was a supplier to the group.
I just remembered that somebody had been talking about
the tanks a few days back and remembered that I have
had the Ronco site saved for probably the last ten
years in the event I might need new tanks for my boat!

Something to note in case the current supplier leaves
the scene at some time in the future.

Cheers - Mac
