If you are wondering about the title, you will soon understand the relation or more accurately the difference.
When each and everyone of us bought into this community, we knew that there would be supply issues. Complaining about prices is no surprise, but it doesn’t get much sympathy in some groups. Ask anybody that does work on commercial engines about parts cost.
Several decades ago, I needed a piston for a Jeep engine (230cid OHC), I finally located one and it cost me 68$ and the same time I could buy a GMSB piston with rings and pin for 8. I was glad to get it. There many more of these vehicles than TZE, but the engine was only produced for five model years before it was replaced at the AMC take over.
According to all the posted information, there were fewer than 13,000 GMC TZE vehicles assembled. The Oldsmobile big blocks were produced from 1964 to 1978 (commercial and marine contracts ran into 1978) in several displacements for a total volume that is unconfirmed at about five million (5,000,000) and the 455cid version was only a small part of that.
Between 1955 and 1998 Chevrolet produced about ninety million (90,000,000) small block V-8s.
McDonald’s serves about one and an half million customers (1,500,000) a day.
Be it airsprings (airbags), 455 parts or anything that was common to little but the TZE production, don’t be expecting to get it at a Chevy Small Block price, and it sure isn’t going to happen with a MacD delivery.
The best we can do is join GMCMI and help Bdub keep the interchange book up to date. The reliable suppliers of specialized parts should be appreciated for the investment of both capital and resources that they have engaged.
Thank You for listening.
Tomorrow we are off to Cherokee NC to start a tour of the Blue Ridge Parkway. We are going to enjoy that great huge windshield and the nimble coach the entire way.

Thanks Tom,
But we will be going across 441 to Cherokee from Knowville and I am hoping we have daylight to get up to Clingman's Dome. We will be too late to make the Bean Station work rally.
And my wife just called to say that departure tomorrow will be delayed about four hours.
