Thom, bra's have been in use for years on old Porsche's. In fact I stopped using the one on my roadster when I discovered that the buffeting caused scratching on the top of the fenders.

The point being that you have to be careful that your not trading off the road rash for scratches from these "Bra's".

Thom, I dont know where to tell you to find this. I got mine from a friend who was not going to use it. We run one on the Vibe to keep GMC from destroying the paint. You do need to take it off regularly to clean and polish. I am trying to find a one piece to cover the new paint on our baja.

These bras were very popular a while back amongst Porsche owners, but I don't see too many people using them these days. There are some clear plastic products that are applied to the front surfaces to protect the paint, and they seem to be gaining wider use in the Porsche communitiy.

The Porsche front end bras were mostly made by Colgan or Wolf, so one of them may have a pattern for the GMC. I'd think that the plastic may work better, but till mine gets painted, I'm not too worried about the old paint. Once you spend the money on a new paint job, you do feel a whole lot different!!!!!!!!!!!!

You have to take them off after it rains too, or it will mess up the paint. They are good at hiding front end damage!!! Laughing

I have never had to take the one off the Vibe after a rain. Don't understand why I need to do that. I wash behind it several times in between taking it off too. I guess that would be same as rain.
Some folks like them, some don't.

I was advised to do that in the 80's when I used them. Maybe that was before today's better paints or clear coats.

I used to drive a Porsche and had a bra for it. The correct fit and the water thing were issues but I finally stopped using it because I figured I was saving the good looks of the front end for the next guy and never got to see it myself.

My understand is they were for temporary protection in Germany during the final road test--- not ever meant ot be left on. Legend is that one was left on in shipping across the pond and it became the fad it was here. Gone the way of the boom boom bass, the coffee can duck fart exhaust, and curb feelers. Does as much chaffing as it does rock protection, but then it hides it, so you break even.

Mike,
It did come from a 911 but I left it in the "boot" for the new owner. I hope you can still have a happy birthday.
