Some of you may recall that last July we had to go to Phoenix because
my daughter-in-law was in the hospital for liver failure.
I have had many emails from several of you, even recently, asking how
she was.
We just got a call today from my son telling us that she has now been
diagnosed with non-small cell lung cancer that has spread to her bones
and other organs. Although she had been tested for cancer before it
was always negative. This may be what caused the original problem
with her liver.
They say that she is in Stage IV which is the worst and last stage.
The only treatment is chemotherapy. They will be doing a brain scan
today. If its in her brain there is nothing that they can do. If
not, they will begin chemotherapy tomorrow.
When looking this up on the Internet I see that the American Cancer
Society says that the 5 year survival rate, even with treatment, is
only 1%.
We are truly devastated by this news. We appreciate all of your
thoughts and prayers.

Emery,
This is so, indeed, sad news. Know that Martha and I be in prayer for you
and your family. Also, know that I'll mention this at our GMCES rally and
that we'll have a special time of prayer for you all at our worship service
on Sunday.
Please update us when you know more tomorrow or Saturday.
