Getting ready to install my new Yandina combiner. Question: What happens if, after it's installed, I'm connected to shore power, and it's engaged and charging the engine battery, and then I start the engine? Should I disconnect from shore power before starting the engine?
Thanks,

I believe Yandina is using the resistance of the hookup wires to limit the current through their combiner. I'm assuming this as their instructions say the warranty is void is the leads are cut to a shorter length.
Actually I just looked on their web site and that is what they are doing. The ratings for their Combiner 100 is 75 amps continuous rating, 400 amps closing current (2 seconds), 100 amps for 5 minutes.
The Combiner will open the battery connection as soon as either voltage drops below 13V which is what will happen as soon as you start the crank the engine.
I am not sure of the specs how the Engine Start Assist feature works, but I'm sure it just lowers the disconnect voltage, but does not hold while the engine is cranking.
