...this looks like a fun job!!!
Looks like the PO managed to mutilate the hole where the sending unit goes, to the point where the best solution is to replace the tank.(32 years old anyway)
My question is, do I need to disassemble the toilet flange, and do we have photos of this whole prosess in the arcives? link?

Dan, you are going to get a lot of help, from afar, on this one. The pipe from toilet does screw out so I think you need to lift the toilet. Is an easy chore though, 2 bolts.

Hi Dan,

Assuming it's a stock wet bath, yes you do have to remove the toilet and
flange there is a short plastic pipe that is threaded into the top of the
tank and the flange. IIRC the sink drain is pushed into a rubber "grommet"
and will pull out. Other than the sensor wiring and the output pipe it's
just 2 straps to remove. I think there are pix somewhere, Gene Fisher may
have them, I'm sure someone else will pipe up with additional info, good
luck.

Gene...
So who can argue with..."white water empty = Black water FULL"...
but I think its time for (ALL) the guages to work.

...so the toilet is off, and I see several Philips screws...they
obviously come out, nad then does the flange itself screw out?

Dan,

I am in the process of redoing the dark tank as well. Well yes you take out
the screws and unscrew the flange from the dark tank. Make sure the two
metal straps that secure the tank are off and then you should be able to
manipulate the tank out. BEWARE when taking the metal straps off try to save
the carriage bolts that come through the floor! If they are rusted somehow
get the nut off. I made the mistake and cut the bolt off. Well the one
closest to the front passenger side of the coach is under the bath module
and impossible to get to unless you want to remove your entire bath which is
not fun. If you save the bolts you should be able to do this easily, cut the
bolts and thats another story.
Hope this helps.

John, Gene, Chri$, Mike, (others)...

Thanks...I have not yet completed the job, but the "how to"
concerns have vanished like a fart in the wind!!

I'm going to make the 200 hundred mile round trip across
the border to the mail drop place to pick up the new tank from
Jimmy K. Believe it or not, that IS the most cost efficient way
to bring stuff across that dam border.

Once again, Thanks for your in put...this is a great resource !!

On my 77 ele....outside the bath door,on the floor.mostlly hidden by the bath, there seems to be a flange of sorts screwed to the floor. I only found it after I removed the carpet. This flange appears to be basin like....meaning it is depressed into the floor....reaching my hand under there I can feel it is full of holes....anyone know what this is about...thanks Brian

That is a plastic "pan" made to cover a cutout in the floor that
allows room for the trap for the shower. If you remove the small
kickplate board below the bath module door you can look in side and
see the shower drain and the trap.

Thank you Emery...I see that board ,but it doesn't appear to screw on. I wonder if replacement pans are available?
