Two pumps? Sounds like a good idea. How do you handle switching power to them?

Aux / main switch, with a relay.

Mike,
Warren Mitchel has them wired through his tank selector switch.
Which ever switch is on then that pump is the one working.

One pump, two tanks, two filters (one per tank) and one OEM GMC selector valve before the electric pump.

The plumbing goes main tank-> filter#1 -> selector valve-> 4070 electric pump-> mechanical pump-> Carb

and

reserve tank-> filter#2-> same selector valve-> same 4070 pump-> same mechanical pump-> same Carb.

That is my arrangement, too. Two filters, one pump. Except that I don't have the mechanical pump at all. I also installed a quality sintered-bronze inline filter just upstream from the carb and replaced the filter can on the carb with an AN-6 fitting. That is a filter of last resort, catching what gets through the two filters upstream from the selector valve.

Ken Henderson used two 4070 pumps with check valves instead of a selector valve and one pump. That provides redundancy on the pumps as well as the filters.
