I tried to fit one today, but the gap between the door and the frame on the hinge side is too narrow to allow the door to close with the screen door hinges in place. Is there any way to adjust that gap? Or some way around that problem? The bolts anchoring the hinge seem to allow the door to be moved towards or away from the body, but not to shift it laterally.

Richard,
Bending the Birch door hinges, grinding the GMC hinge bolt heads, and other
drastic measures are among the things I did while wasting a whole week of my
life trying unsuccessfully to get a good fit back in 2000. :-(
Not meaning to discourage you, of course.

It helps to talk to people that have installed few of these doors as
each coach is different.
Lot of our customers contact us while installing them so we can give
them hints and save time and frustration.

I was looking at one on Carl Stouffer's coach tonight (Bruce Tara's
old coach) and was impressed with the fit and how nicely it closed and
latched.

Steve,
I installed that Ragussa screen door last summer at my wife's request. It went on pretty easily, but, Dan's right (and thank you Dan for the compliment), I DID have to call Jim K. a couple of times for advice.
I am a carpenter by trade and consider myself somewhat of a door expert, but it took quite a while to get it adjusted right (hinge bending etc). It does work well now after trimming the vinyl weather strip around the outside. I was in kind of a hurry to get it working smoothly and did a lousy job of cutting the rubber, but I will eventually get some new vinyl and try again.
I think it is a good product and a viable alternative to the other options avaliable.

Carl,
I had the same experience trimming the rubber seal. I called Ragusa and explained that I had ruined a piece of seal, and would like to purchase a replacement. He said "hey...no problem. I'll send some out tomorrow, NO CHARGE" Three days later I had it in hand. Try calling him. They provide great service for their items.

I am surprised that it doesn't interfere with the outer door and I
thought it fit and worked quite well. I wouldn't hesitate to use one
on my next coach (if that happens). Nice job Carl. It takes at least
two trips through your coach to begin to see some of the nice
improvements that have been done.

Yeah, I know, Ken. Dan lives a stressful life and I didn't want to pile any more on him. Sure, Dan, eight months ought to give me enough psyche time and you enough time to save up. Them things ain't cheap!
