Was wondering what the pump pressure is for the onan, my onan floods itself after about 30 seconds, and this is after a carb rebuild. The pump is also a new mr gasket electric pump making about 4-7 psi...

If I remember correctly it is 2-3 PSI. My electric back up pump in my airplane is the same pump that Onan uses on their generator. My fuel pressure gauge reads 3 PSI prior to starting the engine.

2 to 3 psi max, anymore and the float will not seal and the carb will
flood and you could have a fire.

Which reminds me that I never reported back about the flooding problem with
my TroyBilt generator: The 1-5 psi fuel pressure regulator I bought to
correct it didn't work. :-(
After installing the regulator, the generator no longer ran rich, but it
also didn't run very long -- maybe five minutes, then the engine would quit
again, much like before but without the black exhaust. That regardless of
whether I set 1 psi or 5 psi.
So I put a needle valve in the fuel line to replace the regulator (and the
Vice Grips I'd earlier used to restrict flow); now it runs fine with just a
little flow.
I'm beginning to think Fred's suggestion of a machined orifice may be the
best solution, inversely controlling as it may be. :-)
When I have some time, I'll put a pressure gauge after the regulator to see
what it's really doing. In the meantime, I'll adjust the needle valve as
the load changes, if necessary.

They are used for boost pumps om almost all carburetored airplanes from 540 cubic inches and down. All low wing Piper and Grummans for sure. I had one on each of my Grummans with the 0-360, 0-320 and 0-235 engines.
They are required on all low wing aircraft in case the mechanical pump quits. A Piper Cub would not require one since it is a high wing and can gravity feed. Also most cubs do not have electric.

5 years ago before I knew about the Jims, I replaced my onan 6kw fuel pump with this identical pump http://www.pegasusautoracing.com/productdetails.asp?RecID=2698 Maximum pressure 1.25-1.75 psi haven't had a problem since and was exact replacement taking only 5 minutes to swap out. Not sure what others are selling as no picture, the price has risen substantially as I think I paid something like $65 back then.

I'm not sure the JC Whitney is the same, if you check the specs the lowest rated psi is 2.75-4.00 vs 1.25-1.75 which is more than double. I did get a spare filter and gasket but so far haven't had to use, but I'm ready.

That is the same Facet pump.
I do not know about buying a spare filter. That filter is nothing more than a screen. I clean my airplane one once a year during annual inspection. I have never found anything more than a few pieces if fuzz in it. It designed to be a cleanable screen rather than a throw away filter.

Well it was more of a joke, since the dimunitive size of the onan pump dosnt seem like it could power an airplane. the cub was th smallest plane I could think of that was not an ultralite....
