This year, I heard of 2 GMCs sliding off of the floor jacks when trying to
center the jack under the slippery ,front beam. *
*Since Manny and I were going into a FRENZY of change of the engine and
tranny, (and I do not have a pit ;>), I decided to make a jack pad for the
floor jack, that would self-align , using the two holes in the front cross
member, and would pull the floor jack as the coach went up.

This is what I made, and I hope some of the GMC entrepreneurs, will
consider selling something like this for safety and ease of use. My guess
is, every GMC owner needs to carry one of these (even if someone else does
your work)
good luck (and I need one more ;>)

Excellent, Gene! I've thought several times of doing something similar, but
since my jacks' pads have protruding "ears" on them, I haven't found it
necessary so far.
What I did make though, is a pad to go under the A-arm. It's a rectangle of
1/4" steel plate, to the top of which is welded a piece of 1" tubing
deformed into a oval to fit the hole near the outer end of the A-arm. The
tube is just long enough to prevent the plate from sliding on the A-arm but
not to touch and damage the CV boot. The bottom side of the plate has a
fence made of a 3/8" section of 2" steel tubing to prevent the jack from
slipping from the pad. It needs a little refinement but I'll post a photo.

OK, sorry as they are, here are the photos of my prototype A-Arm Jack Pad:
http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/showphoto.php?photo=33080&title=unpainted-prototype-a-arm-jack-pad&cat=3056
and the following 4 photos.
was a quickie project to satisfy an immediate need I had. It could be a
very useful device, but it needs to be modified by extending the plate
inboard 1" to 1-1/2" and moving the safety fence a similar amount. I needed
a jack very close to the tire -- too close for general purpose use.
I'm NOT interested in making/selling anything like this -- I consider the
"design" to be in the public domain for anyone who wants to do so.

OK Gene, I did all the leg work on your "jack plate". It works out to
$42 each in groups of 74. That is in any color you want as long as it
is black. That is a little short of the 80 you requested for the
Auburn rally but two runs would be 148 pieces and that would be way
past your request. What do you think??..............Terry
