I slept there Monday night. Pulled in at dark and was gone by 730 am, believe it or not. Very few folks knew I was there. Teri shopped there as she gained permission for us to stay. Does not bother me one bit. I am not paying 25 bux to park for 8 hours and use no facilities. Rv parks need a pull in and rest spot for a reasonable 5 or 10 dollars, with no hooking up or dumping. I would go for that.

How can you say that? Sure there are darn few hookups but you can't beat
the rates.

No argument there. Same can be said of Costco, Lowes, Home Depot, etc.

I'm sympathetic to the problems "wally world has done to small business"

But it has surely opened up the world to small towns. In the '70's, when I went from Dallas to the in-laws in small town in AZ, the prices in the local hardware store were 3 or 4 times what I was used to in Dallas. If they even had what you wanted. And options or color choice, nonexistent.

And like Dan says, why pay for a heated swimming pool, when all you want is to sleep for a few hours.

There is something to be said for consistancy also, whether it is price or just familiar store. Teri and I have only found one Walmart that we did not care for. It is in Coolidge, Az. It seemed to be run by lots of native Americans that could care less if we spent our money there. I could not believe the prevailing attitude. You could almost feel it when we walked through the door and my grandma was 1/4 Cherokee.

Actually,Walmart has got the right idea and the business plan is working.

the US has inflated costs for manufacturering, wages, taxes etc.

Target isn't badly priced either. That company also gets a lot of press as a bad company.

man made inflation, irresponsible taxes force manufacturing costs up and makes China and other countries look really good.

you wont find much that has the USA label these days. An instructor told our class that the USA would become a SERVICE oriented country. We are there!

As for parking overnight, the map in not nearly accurate as Walmart has begun dissing overnight stays, mostly with the insistance of local governments but the available stores that still allow it is dropping fast. the one near me just dropped parking overnight, thank you gurnee, Illinois.

Drive through one of those small towns that has a walmart nearby, and not only all the stores are closed, but the commercial real estate value is in the toilet. Hearne TX is an example where I have seen this.

Their business model was tolerable to me until they started squeezing the manufacturers so hard they had no choice to move off shore. In the 80's and 90's they actually created mfg job growth.

Remember, if there are good paying jobs, people can afford to pay a bit more. It is all relative. If people cannot work, they cannot buy goods. If all the mfg closes, there will be nobody to buy from walmart except other walmart employees in those places. That mining town model is apparently what they want.

Five of the top 20 or so billionaires in the US are Waltons or related folks. It is simply not right for such a small percentage of people to get so fat on the backs of their workers, which brings me to what really is bad about Walmart. In Arizona, they were caught giving their new hires the paperwork to apply for state medical coverage. They purposely hire part timers to avoid paying other benefits. Their health plan costs nearly what their employees take home every month, which means a walmart employee basically works for the family's health care and a few extra scraps for bacon and eggs.

Are their supercenters nice? Yes. are the prices low? yes. Have they caused people whom I know to lose their livelihood? Yes.

Will I use their parking lots to stay overnight? Yes. that's the least they can do for us after all the damage they have done. I'll buy my US made Spray Paint and Estes Rocket Motors there as rent.

In this country, the KIDS are buying new cars! There are far too many millionaires and the goverment pays the financiers when the economy busts.

This country has been too fat, paid too high of wages, danced with the unions and allowed this to happen.

Don't blame Wallmart for the faults of the country.

I think the Walmart bashing has gone on long enough. This thread, started with showing where you might find a dry camp type stopping place for you and your GMC, has strayed way to far into politics.

There is a tiny winy very small chance that it might NOT be Walmarts business plan that is driving our mfg jobs to china.

It might just be the unions demands, government corruption, never ending increasing taxes and regulations. Just maybe!

I just bought a $10 pizza. It cost $10.98 ( CA should have the best schools on the planet but there are only 5 or 6 worse states ) Anyone care to guess how much it will cost after value added tax, cap and tax ( to save the planet)

I am now hoping that Walmart can find a way to deliver it to me for the original $ 10
