Through the cooperation of a few owners Iıve been provided some good photos
from which to render (draw lines and curves in a computer application) the
model names. Iıve posted four to my business website thus far.
Iıve done Painted Desert, Sequoia, Canyon Lands, and Kingsley. What I have
on hand to finish later in the month are Palm Beach, Eleganza SE and
Eleganza II, Royale, and Birchaven. Each graphic takes an average of 90
minutes to complete.
Why am I doing this? Three reasons. (1) I want to. (2) Maybe someone will
want to pay me a few bucks to get scalable graphic files that can be taken
to FedEx Office or other vinyl sign cutter to get replacement or enhancement
graphics for your personal use. (3) To allow the other creative types among
us to grab whatıs on the web site and make your own stationery.
Since the source artwork is vector-based instead of bitmapped graphics, I
can change coloring, etc. as you desire.
By the way, Terry Taylor <n6mon@pacbell.net> is equipped to cut what you

Hi Byron,
I'd cough up a few bucks if you could do Glacier for me in a scalable
graphic. I have a very good friend in ANAHEIM, CA who owns a sign shop that
could cut a set for me. I'd be willing to get a half dozen sets cut and send
them to you to sell to recoup your time doing GLACIER. Unfortunately I do
not have an original image or even photo of that logo.

Sure thing.
I was sent a Glacier but it wasn't authenticate (in the opinion of the
person that sent it to which I agreed). I rented a Glacier in 1976. I'm
quite sure it had a graphic but I've not seen anything in all the photos
I've seen.
If someone has a Glacier, I'll certainly do one as accurately as possible.
Otherwise, I'll take what I have a fake it to get the similar look that GMC
established.

230 and 260 already there as is the 73-74 GMC logo. The GMC lettering
changed after that, no decal. Of course, today's GMC logo is a different
typeface from then.

Can you walk me through how I would get what you have converted into a useable decal for my coach? I have no idea who has compatible software for your images. Are you and Terry Taylor working together on this? Does Terry have a site with the vinyl decal colors to pick from and then you send him the images and he sends me the decal?
Thanks for doing all this work and if I end up with a couple of these, I'll be sure to send you something.

Randy, I will have the designs up on my website for sale soon, I am
addressing an issue with my vinyl cutter right now.
What image do you need and how soon?

I'm not an expert on the Eleganza line. Bill Bryant is probably the guy for
that. But, from what I recall, the Eleganza II models came out in 1977 and a
few were produced with the 78 model year. The Eleganza was probably a
designation for 1976. I wasn't aware of an Eleganza SE until I photographed
the graphic on one at Montgomery.

You ask a good question. I'll supply you with answers.
Most businesses want either a good, clear graphic image to scan or a
computer graphics file so the computer can drive the cutter/plotter. The
sign cutters I'm familiar with (much like the computer-driven embroidery
machines) prefer a vector-based file rather than a bit-mapped file.
A vector-based file (EPS or SVG) contains the instructions on how to
recreate the image at any given size. Hence, scalable vector graphics can be
enlarged (without breaking up the image) or reduced (without cluttering the
image). It's the vector information that is rendered by an artist that's the
key. For instance, TrueType fonts are vector-based. Prior to them, all fonts
on a computer were bit-mapped.
If an images is scanned into the computer, it is bit-mapped. Photos are
bit-mapped.
So, I can send you files in three different formats. EPS (encapsulated post
script), SVG (scalable vector graphics) or a 300dpi PNG (portable network
graphics) with transparency. Not every computer has an application that can
read and print these out however any sign/banner making equipment worth a
hoot uses those file formats. By the way, 300dpi can be scaled down but not
up.
I send you what you want. You put it on a thumb drive and take it to FedEx
Office (formerly Kinkos) or whomever, pick out the colors of vinyl you want
and place the order. Terry Taylor can do the work if you'd like.

From what I have read, the Eleganza SE was GM's answer to the requests for a higher quality interior. It was the first to have Flexsteel seating. It was offered during the last part of 1974 --only--.
It was replaced by the Eleganza II in 1975 and was offered every year until the end of production.

IIRC: Dave G. had the Eleganza as the most produced model. Looking at the pictures, you can see why. Much more tasteful and less "trendy" than the colors and material used in some of the other models.
Any 1977 Eleganza would be a "II".

I knew the El II was quick to replace the El SE I just wasn't sure when.
That really was a "special edition".

I can wait a little while. Let us know when you're ready to go. It would be sweet if you came up with a way to see each logo in the color you want just by clicking a color for the lettering and another for the background.

I'm doing this as a volunteer effort. Do program things beyond that is
another serious investment of time, etc. So, it won't happen with the next
few years. If my business was doing this and it reaped some positive,
financial reward then I'd think otherwise.

From what I have read, the Eleganza SE was GM's answer to the requests for a higher quality interior. It was the first to have Flexsteel seating. It was offered during the last part of 1974 --only--.
It was replaced by the Eleganza II in 1975 and was offered every year until the end of production.

IIRC: Dave G. had the Eleganza as the most produced model. Looking at the pictures, you can see why. Much more tasteful and less "trendy" than the colors and material used in some of the other models.
Any 1977 Eleganza would be a "II".

I might add, with some recent questions about 1973 & 4 interiors, the glove box sticker is of no help with the exception of the Eleganza SE. You won't find the model name but the exterior color "Chamois" will be noted and was only used on the SE.
