Well the title says it all. It looks like the hood is pop riveted from below and above.

Try unscrewing the knurled retaining nuts, one on each of the two switches.

Yes in fact the 2 switch knurled knobs are what you remove to get at that and the fan. Don't pry anything.

You know, I never would have thought of that. Of course the panel came right off after I unscrewed the little knurled nuts and I replaced my 1056 bulbs with some LED's. The LED's are not 1056 replacements, but the smaller ones from the foot lights in the hall. I ordered 4 "bulbs" from <www.superbrightleds.com> and used the dim ones on the floor and the bright ones over the stove.

This should make for a very good night light.

Yes all your life you have equated the knurled knob with what holds the switch in place, not that that is what hold something else in place. Exercise in thinking outside the box (sick of that expression but it fits) for engineers.
