The remote start/stop switch inside the coach just quit. No start, no stop,
nothing. I can start and stop the onan from the controls on the generator
itself. I found a trailer connector that seems to connect the remote switch
to the Onan just in back of the power drawer. We sort of as it
disintegrated in my hands as I pulled it apart. There are four wires
coming from the coach red, blue, green, and brown that are supposed to line
up with four wires coming from the Onan..all white. Does anyone have a
diagram as to what or how the wires are supposed to match up?
On a side note I lost all power to the batt, fresh water, black water, and
propane indicators. Nothing, zip, nada.

Check the GMC photo album. There's a slide or two about splicing wires instead of the plug.
I spliced the wires.

The Onan service manual is at bdub.net. But here's where they go:
Control Inside Panel
Boad Pin Connnection
1 (Ground) Switch COM
2. Switch STOP
3. Switch START
Coil + Run Time Meter
With this information, you should be able match your colors inside to see
where they go outside.

Ken,
Thanks! I'll play with that tomorrow. I spent the better part of the day
at the Men's Mall trying to remove a steering wheel from an Astro Van. So
far the van is winning. Lots of Astro and Jimmy steering wheels with the
GMC logo available but my wheel puller can't budge them.
I'm still chasing power to the gauge indicators. I pulled the panel and
there is no 12 dc to be found anywhere. All the fuses check out.

With the 4-pin connector "disconnected" you will not see and power at the generator panel.
The power for the switch comes from the generator (4 of the 6 connectors on the top of the control board.) There should be 12v on both the start and stop wires. The switch connects these to ground to activate the function. (IE: Grounding the start wire will start the generator.) The 12v listed below is for the run time meter and gen running light. It is not there when the generator is not running. (Most inside prime switches apply 12v to this line, back-feeding power to run the fuel pump.)

Here ya go
WHITE - (Ground) Switch COM 1 on both the Onan and the Remote
YELLOW - Switch STOP 2 "
BLACK - Switch START 3 "
RED - Coil + Run Time Meter 6 "
Wouldn't hurt to clean the contacts on the remote switch, you
may find they will also fall apart - just deal with it

The crusty Onan connector is as common as the day is long. In fact there was just a blurb about it in the GMC Motorhome News 12/09 from Cinnabar. I would cut, solder, and heat shrink with the hot melt glue type of sealing shrink if I were to do the job.
On the wheel pull, I'm sure you've removed the saftey clip right? Sounds like a good whack with a large Ford tool (hammer) on the center shaft might help. I always leave the center nut loosly in place so when it pops you don't have a surprize.

Just when I thought I was making progress.........
Chase all the wires down, labeled them, used watertight splices, went in
the coach, hit the start button and...............nothing.
It seems though the connector had turned to dust I now have a bad Onan
switch inside the coach. I shorted the correct wires out and it starts and
stops as advertised. I ran a check on the switch......nothing.
The coach goes to Miguel on Tuesday, I hope he has a switch in his shop.
I still can't find out why the indicator panel lost power.

Seems like when I read about something on this forum, it happens to me. I've been working on my coach and using the generator quite often. Start/stop from inside or outside. Yesterday I noticed the light not on in the remote switch. Went to shut it off and nothing. Reading this thread I checked the wire harness and it looks good. Looks like it was replaced by the PO. Switch all looks good inside. Not sure what to check next.
Any additional advice would be appreciated.

If you still have the four conductor connector at the right rear lower
corner of the Onan take it apart and clean it. Better yet, cut off
the connectors and, using some heat shrink tubing, solder the wires
together.
Also, take off the cover of the control box and one at a time, pull
off the spade connectors and push them back on. It would also be a
good idea to put some dielectric grease on each spade before pushing
back the connector.

The control box that you refer to, is that the start stop hobbs meter cover at the front door? I did check the 4 wire plug under the generator and it looks good. I see the wires then run to a small sheet metal box in the far back of the generator compartment and then on to the generator. Might have to figure out how to access that box without pulling the generator out.

The control box (board) is where all the terminals connect behind the remote
starter switch.

When this happens on mine, it is always that connector on the rear of
the Onan. I use that spray ele contact cleaner from Home Depot and it
never fails to do the job. Part of my annual maintenance is to use
that stuff on all the lug connectors on the circuit board also. Fuse
panels etc., a good, inexpensive, easy to use product. Just make sure
it is dry before energizing the circuits.
