My oldest, Katie (now 21!) is heading to Dana Point, California to move in
with her longtime main squeeze Crawford and his brother and father while she
attends Cal State Fullerton to finish off her batchelor degree and work on
her masters.
Katie is a veteran of the GMCnet, having solicited homework help on the net
10 years ago or so when I was away on business.
Katie has a 2000 VW bug with >150k miles and about 90k on the engine. She
has been well taken care of by Rick of Delaware Auto in Delaware Ohio.
Ricks first job was delivering new 1973-76 GMC motorhomes to customers and
giving them their new owner orientations.
Do any of you know a reputable independent service shop in the Dana
Point/Santa Ana area that would provide reliable service to her VW? In
addition, her boyfriends SAAB needs lots of attention!
Also, will she face any problems registering her car in California as it has
Federal smog apparatus.
Appreciate any input.
By the way: We plan to coordinate visits to her with West Coast Rallys!
Look out Jim K and Miguel!

Ron,
While I have not used them http://www.nyscoemotors.net/ Nyscoe seems to be
fairly competent and reasonable according to a couple of my VW buddies.
However since SoCal is a hot bed of VW ownership I'm sure there are others.
If she would like to get the engine rebuilt, ported and turbocharged she
could go to RIMCO who have been the "GO-TO" VW machine shop for a long long
time. http://www.rimcovw.com/. They did a motor for me a while back. She'll
have a bit of a hike to get from Dana Point to CSU Fullerton. Traffic from
Dana Point to there is straight up the 405 which is not good in the
mornings. At lease she'll be dry and warm!!!
Thanks
