I have narrowed my tire selection down to two, both by Kumho.

The KL 78 AT vs the KL 51 Road Venture. Both are Load Range E, however the ratings for sound and comfort on the 51 is better.. There is also a difference in price but not significant.

One last question, I notice that several of you use 245/75/16's instead of the 225's. Why, and what are the advantages and/or negatives.

Richard,

The Tire Rack has a spreadsheet that shows that the Kuhmo 245 has a diameter
of 30.5" but the diameter of the 225 is N/A.

When this subject has been raised before it was noted that 245 size tires
have a larger diameter than 225 tires which would raise the final drive
ratio.

I think that there's a chart somewhere but I can't remember where.

Both Robert Mueller and I have the KL78s I and my wife have no complaints about the sound. You will love the wet grass (off road) traction of KL78s. I have no experience with the other tire you asked about.

Hopefully Rob will comment on his sound experience with his KL78s.

Richard,

Helen and I have no complaints about the road noise either.

However, I should qualify that by noting that it might be masked by other
noises mechanical (engine, trans, etc), natural (wind), self induced
(radio).

If you don't need the tires now I will be at the COOP from June 28 until
July 28 and would be more than happy to take you for a spin in Double
Trouble.

From Orlando we will be driving down to the Keys and then back up the west
coast of Florida and could / would stop in Punta Gorda and take you for a
ride then.

Thanks for the kind offer Rob, however we plan on getting our new rubber in April and then we are "gone". Hopefully, in July we will be somewhere up in the NE parts of this great Country.
IIRC, Dan has 245,s on his coach, perhaps he will see this and make a comment.
BTW, that little girl from your neck of the woods, Jessica is bearing down on completing her Round the World trek.
Some kind of young people are grown down under, although we also have a 16 year old (Abby) about to make her transition at the Cape tomorrow.
Not very often you see such accomplishments by 16 year old girls.
