A friend has a double decker enclosed auto transport that is really cool. So cool it has air conditioning among its features.
Anyway there is a clear plastic like drape that hangs down inside the side door. It comes in strips about 4-6 inches wide and keeps cool inside air in and hot outside air out. Pretty sure it works pretty well against bugs/mosquitos too.
Was wondering if something like this might work on our coaches.

Actually the screen door that I have is made just that way. When I don't want to use it I slide the 6" panels out and store them.
It works well for us as the dogs can come in or out with out me having to open a door. I bought the screen panel door some time ago from camping world. I don't think they have them any more.

Flies Rob, flies.
A GMCWS rally was held one week after 9/11 and if you recall, all
flights were ground for some time after that. The Mariposa fair
ground had just had the county fair (can you say livestock) and the
stuff they sprinkle on the ground to kill fly larvae was sitting
somewhere on a plane. We lived through two generations of the worst
flies I've ever seen. If you had a screen door, you could barely see
out of it, if you didn't, you died! Add to that the fact that the
power was constantly going out so you had to have some way to get air
to circulate.
We still had a good time though.

The guy with the MOKE at Montgomery had a folding screen door in his coach.
What he made was a frame, attached the screen material to the wall of the
coach. The door slid in a track along the bottom and top of the doorway.
When opened, the screen door was in use. When closed, the screen just folded
up curtain style.

I don't have a picture but the panels are a tan colored flexible plastic about the same thickness and dimensions as the store ones with the center of the panels cut out and thin screen material molded in each panel. the top of the panels have a rib in them where you slide them in place above the door opening when you want to have the screen door or take the panels out and store them when you don't.
The coach door opens and closes with the panels in place. You just push them aside as you enter or exit. I keep my panels in a canvas money bag till I want to have a screen door. It works pretty good with the dogs.

I purchased the sliding folding screen door for my 73 at the Niagara Falls International rally in 2001. Once I got it installed and tweaked I loved it as did just about every other GMC'er who saw it. It matches the curvature of the body and slides (on ball bearing drawer slides) and folds like a curtain to the right of the entry door. There were no issues with the hinges or anything else on the entry door. I know few others who have installed them but AFAIK the GMC'er who was making them no longer does. The fellows name was Roger A------? and he had a beautiful coach with a VW Beetle towd to match. I'm sure someone out there knows who I'm talking about. Maybe he could be encouraged to get back into offering them or possibly share his design etc ?? (Just a thought)
