I hesitate using this forum to thank all the folks from GMCMI at
Montgomery for their card of hope for a surgery success. Received the
card today and want to express my appreciation for your concern,
prayers, and best wishes. So far, it's worked.

There were only 3 or 4 netters that I told of my forthcoming surgery,
a Cochlear transplant but it seems those were the biggest 3 or 4
mouths on the entire net.{:>)

Had the surgery last Thursday and from all accounts, it was a
success. No pain at all which was not expected but welcomed. Wife
and daughter are taking good care of me while I heal and get ready for
step 2: using the outside part and training to hear with it. That'll
keep me from being at ES rally in GA next month. Look for a new man
in the fall, I'll be there.

Got to love all you GMC'ers just cause of who you are! Good folks!
No, GREAT FOLKS!!!!

Roger

CONGRATULATIONS ROGER....oh, I guess I don't have to shout any more. My
former son in law was very impressed with his and the results!

Roger,

There was too much for me to see at the convention. I saw the cards but
didn't get back to sign yours. Sorry about that. However, not sorry that you
had a successful start at beginning to hear. That's good news.

Sorry, however, to know you'll miss Calhoun. I'll look for you at DuQuoin,
guaranteed. Just keep breathing, eating and thinking until then.

Listening to your wife is now an option. Or is it?

Thanks for the positive report. You're observations of the great folks here
is accurate and not on here is generally accurate. There is one, old
sorehead, however. Law of averages, don't you see?

Byron

Well, you must have heard us talking about you tonight. GMCer Bill McGee, who also has one of those implants, and I were discussing on Skype tonight how you should be doing at this point and how long you have to wait for phase 2. I was going to send you a note this evening but now see you have posted here. Bill told me I could not talk to you at this point and I said "What's new?" Bill hears very well and even passed his ham radio code test after getting his implant.

Hang in there. I talk to Bill with his implant quite frequently on Skype. I assume I'll also be talking with you soon.

I'll bet is was Ray who said something at the rally.

I did tell tell a few people who told a few people, who told a few more people, etc. etc. etc.

But I'm still blaming Ray.

Roger,

Congratulations on getting the Cochlear Implant. It will be good to hear again. It won't be normal hearing, but you can adapt to it. There was a fellow at the International rallys some time ago that had one and he could hear everything we said even in the breakfast area. It takes a while to get accustomed to it but it is well worth it in the end.

Gene,
I talked to the guy at Dothan. What impressed me with him was he
received a phone call while we were talking and he answered and talked
away. I haven't been able to use a phone in several years now. He's
one of the reasons I went for it.

Again, AMAZING GMC'ers!!!!!

Found out today that my surgeon was a right fine young lady. I had
met her but thought another doctor was going to do the operation. She
was sooo fine I think Donna would have let me bring her home with me.
Well, sort of. So far, she did well.

Tallked to Walt Taylor today and he asked about Roger's implant. I can now tell him next time that it all seems to be working acceptable so far. Something we are all glad to hear.

I was talking to Walt about the WWW.GMCERS.ORG rear window decals. They are still available. JimK should have taken a bunch to Montgomery for all to buy and drive away with. They, and Rick's great website, maintained by bDub, of course, are a great question answering, interest inspiring piece of promotional material. IMHO
