I just finished pulling my frame apart and was looking at how the exhaust
system is supported. How many rubber support grommets were installed at the
factory? My coach only had 2. Since I will be going to a 3" exhaust and
relocating the front cross member to accommodate a 3rd fuel tank, I was
thinking that 3 supports might be better. Anyone know if the Jims sell the
grommet and flange?
Thanks,

Coaches only came with 2 of the donuts. You don't need an extra for
the 3"

When I installed Jim's 3" exhaust, he said not to bother even replacing the donuts that were there as mine were not in all that bad shape. I'd say just use what the factory did, and you should be fine.

I'm moving the front crossmember forward to accommodate a 3rd fuel tank,
which makes the straight section of the exhaust where it runs along the
frame rail longer than original. I was wondering if installing a third
support in the first crossmember would be a help or a hindrance. The 3"
tubing doesn't have much clearance where it passes through the frame.

Les,
When I did a 3 inch exhaust system JimK did not handle the red grommets nor the metal brackets -- but I see that DanG mentions they are available. I ordered the grommets from Cinnabar. At that time no one offered the brackets.
Here is a link to a photo of new brackets fabricated from stainless..

In addition to the grommets and brackets -- you should also have a strap hanger on the Y pipe at the rear of the two mufflers. Just FYI, the earliest 73 coaches did not have the grommets but used strap hangers in those locations.
When Arch was involved with some 3 inch system installs he thought about splitting the bracket/grommet assembly to ease installation but I do not know how far his work went. The frames do not align well on all coaches and it is a very snug fit for the 3 inch long pipe.

I think I'll go ahead and install the third support. I was worried that it
might cause more transmission of exhaust vibration into the chassis. Since
it has been stated that the frame holes are not perfectly aligned, I am now
more worried about an unsupported exhaust rattling against the frame.
Now all I need is to find someone with a spare exhaust support grommet and
flange. If I can't find one used, I'll buy new from Jim.
Thanks,
