I'm trying to set my rear ride height. Blocked front frame at correct height. Have adjustable ride hgt links. I'm still 1/2 " shy of minimum height. I've adjusted throw of link arms. Still can't get that final 1/2".
Could the height control valve be shot?
Thanks,

George,

When you say you've "adjusted throw of link arms", do you mean you've
followed the manual's procedure? If not, I suggest you set your adjustable
links to the center of their travel and then follow the manual's procedure
to get "close". Use the adjustable links to fine tune the setting.

If you've already done the manual's procedure to get where you are, you may
have one of those coaches on which the leveling valves got loose from the
wheel well and were repaired by a PO -- into an incorrect location. You may
have to un-do some of that repair.

If the height will return to your incorrect setting when set to "Auto",
regardless of whether starting from high or low, the valves are OK.

Oh yeah, when you set the front height, you did do it with the jack centered
under the front crossmember so that front supports could not bias the rear
settings, didn't you?

Ken,
I've adjusted the height sensor valves per the MM. I adjusted sensors to lower height setting. Figuring okay that's too low. Adjusted in the other direction but wind up 1/2" shy.
In auto the ride height returns, up to setting or down to setting depending on where it sits when switched to auto. I don't think sensors have been relocated.
Have front set on wood blocks, on each side.
If it doesn't rain tomorrow I'll try setting lever in the middle and truning adjustable links.
Thanks,

George,

Think about the dynamics of the ride height adjustment: You want the rear
of the coach to level itself, independently of anything else, including
unbalanced loading and front suspension adjustment. If the front of the
frame is anchored level, the rear will be forced toward level. If the air
suspension is able to affect that condition, it's only by twisting the frame
and body, or lifting one of the front corners. You want the front to be
able to rock side to side -- dependent only upon the air suspension to
determine level.

It's also important that the teeter-tottering front end be at its prescribed
height (obviously, the wheels must be removed), otherwise, the height at the
rear measurement locations will be affected, as will weight distribution
between the middle and rear wheels. Until you get the rear adjusted level,
you'll have to average the height of the two front sides.

Once the rear is adjusted, you can adjust the front torsion bars while
allowing the Auto setting to maintain the rear level, regardless of weight
bias. If you tried to teeter-totter the rear, that weight bias would affect
the front adjustment.

HTH,

Ken
