Richard and any other new owners out there,

There are some things you should do that I did not mention before.

One of the most important is done - you found GMCnet.

Go to <http://www.bdub.net/Black_List/> and get a copy of the Black List (so called because it was started by one Roger Black and not because it is a list of unsavory persons). These are people that can help you if you need. Even if you are not a fixer of things, sign up anyway, the situation might arise that someone needs assistance that you can provide.

Register your coach with Dave Greenberg. <http://www.gmcmhregistry.com/>

Consider joining GMCMI at least (unfortunately, this requires that you join FMCA - I haven't discovered much value there except that they provide the umbrella for GMCMI) and a local chapter (you were already invited to a Tidewater Crabs rally). This will get you easy access to all manner of things that will probably prove valuable.

I bet others will have more to add, but that is just where I would start - given what I now know.

Matt

Congratulations on your choice to join the GMC world!

FMCA was pretty cheap to join and allowed me access to the Explorer Insurance program. They allowed me to get "Agreed Value" insurance without too much of a hassle.

Hey, there's also the magazine and there are probably other benefits to affiliating with a national organization.

The issue is moot for me as I no longer have the coach but.....

YMMV

Matt,

Good suggestions. However, I'm going to take issue with the value of FMCA
membership.

FMCA offers a lot of benefits that are more "a la carte" to the typical
motorhome owner. Chief on the list is the MEDPLEX emergency medical
evacuation program which I hope to never take advantage of. FMCA membership
offers many "hidden benefits" that those, who are officers of our clubs,
appreciate. The big thing that comes to mind is insurance that covers
"official" club events. In a litigation-happy world that can be of great
benefit. This is the reason FMCA membership is required for membership in
the local clubs -- coverage.

Thank you for the info and link to the Black List.
I'm registered with Dave and a new member of GMCMI.  It has been a wealth of information so far.
I've heard several people mention the Black List and I'm afraid I may need it when I try driving to my first rally  : )
