So my coach had some functional but ugly overhead maplights, the ones overhead by the speakers.
I discovered that the S-10 console that I have has replaceable swiveling light fixtures. They can be removed and used elsewhere.

My map light/speaker bezels have been modified so I don't know how big the stock opening is, but they fit very nicely into mine.

I went to the hardware store, Menards, not Home Depot, and found nice chrome pipe trim rings are just the right size. The plastic ones are made in one piece and if you are careful can remain that way.

With 3, 1/4" threaded spacers and a little trimming of the inner flange, it works perfectly! The inner flange has a deep skirt that I removed completely, but looking back I see it could be left with 1/8" or so for a better look..

Keith, that is pretty stinkin cool. I have a set of those lights here. I am not getting everything that I need to understand how you did that. Have you got any pictures of the "process"? I am a picture guy I guess.
Thanks for posting that. I hope I can make it work.

Just found the second picture showing the back. That helps a little.

Looks great.

Is that a plumbing pipe flange (goes around a drain pipe)?

I saw someone set up those stock speakers to be fed
from his CB unit. (guess he added better speakers elsewhere)

Seems like an excellent idea; get the hard to understand
CB sound right next to your ear.

I added more pictures for Dan, They are out of order.

The hardest part was figuring out the standoff distance. A 1/4 inch standoff and 1 washer is perfect.

To drill the holes, you pop out the eyeball and the socket sits right down over the center flange or skirt or whatever it's called. After the holes are drilled you need to remove the inner skirt/flange thing.
