Well after it long winter's nap I decided to wake up my GMC. It was in the 50's so it was a good time to warm it up. We still have some snow around but it is suppose to be in the 50's all week so it should all be gone in a couple of days. I was also up flying today and was surprised at how snow is still on the ground. The GMC has been parked since the last of October, 2009.
Someone asked about starting after extended periods of inactivity.
I checked the oil, coolant, and trans levels. (yes I know trans need to be checked running.) I disconnected the +12 volts to the HEI.
I turned on the key and waited for the vacuum and suspension pumps to fill their tanks. The vacuum ran about 3 seconds and the air suspension ran about 20 seconds. Then I cranked the engine for about 15 seconds to pump some oil around it and reconnected the HEI.
I depressed the gas pedal once and after about 3 seconds cranking it fired off and ran. I gave it about a 5 minute warm up while I checked all tire pressures and trans level. I also started the Onan and let it run while I took the coach for a 15 minute drive at 60 mph.
It is back in the hanger again and back sleeping until I need it. I still need to drain and flush the anti-freeze out of the water system and will be ready to go. I've got a few projects I would like to do to the coach but they are all improvements that will not keep me from using the coach now or whenever I want it.
I'm ready for another season. It is March.

Ok, sounds good. Now point the thing south and come on down to Montgomery. If we always wait til we have enuff money many of us would never see a convention. Oh what stories we hear and the friends we make. Priceless. One of these days some of yall will no longer be able to travel and will have no memories of how it used to be. Forget about the few bux it will take and come on. Hey, free ice cream.
