Larry,
I never, ever, subscribe to the doomsday concept. To me it's a lot
like when your mother tells you to always put on clean underwear in
case you have an accident and have to go to the hospital. (Someone
might see your ........) Heck, if the accident were that bad, I'd
probably s**t my pants anyway.
I got hit from behind a few years ago while driving the GMC. The
vehicle that struck me hit that great energy absorbing bumper, jumped
over it and broke the end cap. I'm pretty sure they worthless.

Jay,

While I like the look, I am forced to ask what you now stand on to clean the windshield. I am not tall enough to clean mine from the ground.

As a builder of many project vehicles throughout the years, I have always done many custom changes for handling, performance fit & finish and custom looks, Not always taking in the original design of the manufacturer, This has been one of them, I appreciate everyones opinion, Thats what forums are for "info, fact and opinion"

I will roll the dice for the better looks on this one.
Just make sure you don't bump at the next convention

"Can I still stand on the bumper?"
Hell at five foot two I can bearly reach the windshield as it is when on the bumper, But didn't seem to make it any worse.

The bumpers DO look better tucked in. I have heard of people letting the pressure out of the "shocks" and pushing them in. Note that the "newer" coaches do not have shocks.

I do not remember the method he used but Bert Curtis has his bumpers tucked in even more than yours:

Same place I always stood Matt, on the bumper. I also have the Ragusa
step/license plate holder and it is quite functional.

I also recessed the front bumper for the looks of it. I also lowered the bumper so the grill was centered between the top of the bumper and the bottom of the front hoods. Again for the looks of it. I had already removed the bumper shocks to make clearance for the jacks so that wasn't a problem. The bumper sticks out 1" in front of the edge of the grill. I wasn't too worried about removing the shocks since I would be going a lot faster then 5 mph if I ever ran into something. Backing up would be another story but my rear bumper sticks out past the spare tire. My size 15s do hang over the bumper when I clean the windshield but not a big deal as long as I don't back up.
