Dan, was wondering where your oil line broke and how was it run. Tight,,loose,, tie wraped,, 4" dia. loop to account for vibration and engine movement?? The reason why I asked is I just ran mine in copper, now I wished I had spent the extra coin on electric,,,thank,,PL

The first time the plastic broke, it was on top of the engine, near the sender. Teri saw the oil spraying all over the engine and headers through the glass cover. This time, it was old and brittle and broke out under the hood. I have a picture on the blog. It was very brittle and just snapped in half. I left that piece in after the first break so I did not have to get into the dash. The PO put the plastic line on, which is all that comes with a new gauge. I would never use plastic again. Copper or electric is only way to go. I stuck with the manual gauge and ran the copper. It does not touch anything, I made sure of that when I ran it. I also have it in wire loom in some spots.
Hope that helps.
Dan

Sorry Dan, I had a broken fan belt shear off a copper mechanical oil pressure line on an SOB a number of years ago. I went all electric so no lines to break at all.

Was fun, broken fan belt and broken oil line, remote Utah, almost dark.

Rob, I like electric also but I could not justify buying another gauge this week. I can already see this new electric temp gauge is not going to be as accurate as the mechanical one was. Besides, one of Teri's jobs is to keep her eye on the engine through the glass.

If you want to get real expensive but reliable, there are stainless steel braid covered teflon hoses to connect from the engine to the guage. I believe Earls sell ready made lines. I personally would NOT use the plastic.

Dan,

IIRC a previous incident you should have told her to watch the floor behind
the engine too! ;-)

Have a SAFE and UNEVENTFUL drive across the great state of TEXAS!

Isn't that pretty much unnecessary these days? I know I don't need it
in either of the browsers I use, Safari or Firefox...

Rob, I dropped the "click link" because it was not letting my notes into several providers that dispersed them. About 6 months back. I probably need to just clean all of it out now. I think folks know I write a daily blog. Had over 1000 hits on it one day.
We are up in Silver City doing the geocache thing today. Some snow at 6,000 ft. Stopping at Jeff's for supper and to do some work on his GMC. Those things will fill tonite's blog.
Oh yea, since the fire, when we smell something "odd", Teri gets up and makes her rounds through the entire coach.
