What, 22 mpg hauling that trailer? Can you imagine trying to pass a truck
going up a hill?

Put a Subie engine in the VW, and it would do it. But then you would
probably be back to 8-10mpg. Hey, that's what I get with the GMC...

I sent this link to my friend whose only comment was "I think the prius needs a 5th wheel, a modern version."

Think of it - no need for a Generator! And if you had extra batteries in the 5th wheel that Prius might go forever.

(Gad! No GMC content...)

I think that might void the prius's warranty, but then again, having read toyota warranties I'm pretty sure driving one can void the warranty. Of course, it might help slow any inadvertent acceleration...

About 30 years ago, I saw a 1966 or 67 Toronado in Salt Lake City with a similar arrangement of trailer hitch and trailer. The trailer ball was mounted in the roof of the Toronado. They must have added some structural supports to the car's roof to handle the load but I don't recall the details.
