Thanks to all of you who responded to my question on proper
torque of my wheels.

I was trying to adjust my rear brakes, I got 2 or 3 clicks
before the brake locked up. I tried to loosen the adjuster
but it wouldn't budge. This happened on both right rear wheels.

How do I get the drums off with it locked.

Richard,
The adjusters are pretty typical of most GM cars & trucks of the era.
You can reach in the adjuster hole and lift the ratchet bar and back
off on the adjuster star wheel. Some are worn enough that you can
back off the star wheel with the judicious use of a little force.

Oh Richard,

This is not all that tough, but it may take several tries to learn.

You need a long very skinny screwdriver. Use it to push the finger of the the adjuster off the starwheel. The starwheel can then be backed off as easily as it was tightened.

Typically, if you target the adjusting finger/pawl/lever just behind the starwheel, that works. It really is harder to explain than it is to do.
