Are people using the drain and plastic tubing to drain these new units or don't they need them. I live in Florida and expect the worse.
As scooped by Guru Jim Bounds a few weeks ago (Daily Pose) and confirmed with a phone call, the Carrier folks are indeed getting out of the transport industry. Anyone care to put their $.02 worth in?

I put one of these in last year. I didn't bother with the plastic drain tube, what, run it over to the edge of the roof or worse yet drill a hole in the roof and run it down? no thanks. I'll take the mess of some water running over the roof to the drip rails. Happens when it rains LOL

I also installed a low profile Carrier, just two years ago. While I didn't install the drain, I seem to remember the drain could be INSIDE... My thoughts where when I remodel, I would run it down to one of the OEM drains near the sink. As I plan on not using the drains when I replumb the fresh water system.
Now you got me wondering where the drain goes.... I'll have to dig out the paper work and parts.
OBTW, I really like this AC.

Well IF the GMC had the ROOM for ANOTHER tank, the tube could drain to the tank and the tank could feed the toilet. That much less water not wasted on poo.
HMM run the water from the AC through a filter and into the potable water tank.... Is this green thinking or what, or what??
LarC ( Thinking if I had the room to add the tank, and pump, might be a thought, kinda like the Thermasan, HAHAHAHAhahahahaaaaa )

Larry wrote on Thu, 18 February 2010 15:58 | Isn't the water coming off of the Roof AC really Distilled water? If so, just place a tube with a gallon water jug and collect it as replacement water for the batteries???

Closer to rain water. Could be good for radiator misters. You get the most condensation during high humidity. You wouldn't get much in the desert.
