Thanks, Rob, I needed that. :-)
I spent most of the afternoon inside the shop making a jig for fabricating
the new Cad 500 front mount I plan to use. Just before supper time, I
realized that some stupid way I screwed up the most fundamental dimension on
the whole thing. I've got to start all over. Of course, with all the
"figger'n out" done, it won't take long to make a new one -- probably on the
back side of that one.
At least I didn't jump right to welded steel; that's why I like to jig
things up with wood before welding. It also clarifies in my mind the
dimensions that are critical for the drawings.

I sure wish you would send some of that warm southern 25 degree weather up here to the Northwest. We could forward it to our friends in Vancouver that are trying to put on the Olymipics in an el nino winter. <G>

Ken,
Is there a way to tell which final drive a 73 Cadilac Transmission has on
it?
I understand there were three different Final drives used on the 73 Cadilac.
All three are suppose to have a 10 bolt cover. I really don't know S***
about
this. I don't even understand what to count if I take the cover off. Can you
help? The tag on the transmission has 73 AJ stamped on it. I have not
looked at the final drive yet. Is the final dive idenified somevwhere?

I should just let Rob answer this, but being fairly certain that
Australia had snow at times I looked it up on Wikpedia.
Here is what they say:
In Australia, snow can fall in the mountains of Victoria, Australian
Capital Territory, New South Wales and Tasmania. There is a regular
snow season in several areas which have seasonal ski tourism
industries. Sometimes snow has even been reported in the mountains of
South Australia, Western Australia and Queensland though this is very
rare.

Emery,
They look like the Jamaican bobsled teams practice slopes, eh?
Obviously it depends on the snow fall. Last year the ski season opened in
the middle of June and finished the end of September.
More Wikipedia; it's easier to cut and paste rather than write it up myself!

Snow at sea level has been recorded on mainland Australia but has happened
more times in Tasmania, some of the snow at sea level has fallen in the off
season like summer. Snow has fallen nearly everywhere in Tasmania, though it
is rare to fall in the north coast at sea level.
The occasional cold snap, caused by cold air drifting north from Antarctica,
can cause significant snowfall in rural areas, as well as major cities such
as Hobart, Melbourne's outer mountain suburbs, Canberra and Sydney. Such
occasions are rare, but have occurred in 1951, 1986 and 2005.
It didn't snow in Paddington where we live; located between the Sydney CBD
and Bondi Beach, in 2005.

Gosh, Rob -- those pictures look as if the terrain might be a little
tough on your skis! :) :)
Is that called "rock skiing' rather than snow skiing/
I know that you are upside down from us. What months do you have snow
there?

I do not known what the ratios were but I had two 66 torso and they'd two different ratios. There was a big difference in the ratios. One was quick and the other would not access very quickly. The second one would get 17 miles per gal at 80 miles and hour and the other would get 10 if I was lucky. My only trouble I ever had was the front tires gave me trouble on long trips at high speed.
