So it is Super Bowl Sunday. I do not know who is playing but I do know that it is in Miami. I am sure it is warmer there although today it is sunny and 26 F here. There is only about 3 inches of snow. It has been a very mild here this winter. The coach is tucked away in an unheated garage. I go look at it once and awhile but it is too cold to do any work.
I spoke with John Shotwell yesterday. He has insulated and heated his new northern Ohio garage. That is a very nice feature. I hope to be gone from the cold again in the future so I do not plan on heating mine.
I most probably will travel south in April and May. Kentucky and Tennessee for the most part.
I know that I have mentioned this before but it gives us a chance to remember a couple of people special to many of us. Mary and I attended our first rally in 2003 in Orange Lake Florida. We met many nice people including Bobby Moore. He told us if he could only attend one rally, it would be Bean Station. Well, Mary and I wanted to but never did. So this year "I'm agonna try".
I have been listening to a lot of bluegrass and classic country lately. It helps me practice my accent ya'll. I have a grandmother from Georgia and a grandfather from Virginia so I consider myself a displaced Southerner. I look forward to getting back there and seeing the red buds in bloom. And I am looking forward to seeing some familiar faces, putting faces to names and meeting new GMCer's.
I hope that all of you enjoy today doing whatever interests you. Thanks to all of you for your contributions to the net. Spring is coming so start planning those trips and use the GMC that you put so much work into. See you down the road.

You do not need to practice upon your accent. The Dixielanders are great people and will accept us Yankees the way we are. All they want is for you to remember to go back home when it is over. As they tell me there are Yankees and damn Yankees. The second category likes it so much that they stick around.

Rick,
I'm looking forward to your being at Bean Station -- and coming on south
with us to Americus. We've got hookups for you either here or at my aunt's
150 acre farm 12 miles away. Lots of interesting places around to visit.

Ken,
From where you are in Americus, how do you get to Bean Station? Im in Greenville SC and if the rock pile isnt cleaned up yet, ill have to take 26 to 81 and back down.
Im planning on driving up thursday morning or afternoon, and thought if anyone from the area were going the same way we could caravan.

Since we have a daughter & family in Atlanta, we usually wind up, despite my
aversion, going by there and taking I-75 to Knoxville, where we pick up
US-11W to BS. That's not at all on your route from Greenville.
What's the "rock pile"? Sounds like there's been a major road blockage in
the mountains that I haven't heard of.

Ken: Oct 25,09 I-40 at mile marker 7 in the gorge in NC was closed due to a rock slide. It is still closed. DOT thinks March to reopen maybe... There has been another slide at mm2 since, but I believe it is cleared.

Thanks, Chuck. I do remember something about that 'way back then; sure
didn't figure it would last 'til now.
Brings to mind my college days, when I worked for a mobile home dealer in
Columbia, SC. I delivered a 43' trailer with a hauler from Columbia to
Evansville, IN. I got lost in the NC mountains and wound up in the middle
of the night among the boulders piled everywhere they were building I-40.
Manged to scratch the trailer while getting turned around to escape from
that nightmare. You've probably had similar experiences while trucking.
