Several folks have asked me about this and I finally got pictures up on the photo site.

Unfortunatly, I can't find the pics I took years ago when I built and installed this. I hope you can get the idea from the installed pictures. I found an aircraft fuel "slide Valve" with an 1 1/4" valve. I split the GMC fill pipe between the tanks and installed the valve and tucked it up in the frame rail. Tight fit there. I used an Air Cylinder to open the valve and a spring to close it. Had I to do it again, I'd use a double acting cylinder to close it. I have a toggle switch in the fuel port that runs the 12v air solonoid to open the valve.
When I stop for fuel I open the valve which allows both tanks to fill. Once full I close it and it isolates the tanks. I always start running with the AUX tank, which is the front tank. That way, if I stop for fuel early, I just leave the vavle closed and it only fills the front tank.
This mod really works well and allows for true fuel management. Unfortunatly, finding the valve could be a crap shoot. Keep your eyes open though. They're out there.

I was looking at a 12 solenoid valve to do this to isolate the tanks in a similar fashion, would be a simpler install since all I would have to do is wire a toggle switch...

If you could find one big enough, that would be great and much simpler.
