The new engine from Jim Kanomata arrived all in one piece this morning. When the GMC ahead of us rolls out later today we will roll in and up. I got everything from Jim but the stock valve covers. Wonder where they fell out? I am not putting the aluminum covers back on with no baffles.
I will keep yall posted. Thanks for all of your support. It makes Teri and I feel that we pay insurance for no reason when we have this many friends to help us scattered accross the USA.

Dan,
I'm looking through 341 e-mails looking for what happened to your old motor. What caused your oil pressure to drop on a motor that only had 30K miles? Inquiring minds need to know. When you have time, .... Thanks.

Ken, come on out. You won't believe the fun we have with Miguel. This is the place to be if one must break down. It is the next best thing to being at Jim's shop and Teri running the office giving daily discounts. You can make it in 31 hours, non stop. We will take you to Slab City with us on our return trip.

I just drove back from there two weeks ago. If I were to come out there so soon after the last trip I'd fly commercially, or ride the train. The last trip cost me $700 extra for tires and Heather's ticket so Laurie would probably have a fit if I did it again so soon. Especially after my smart remark while I was out there about the check book being low and her needing to go get a job.
Now if someone had an empty flat bed going that way to put my Blazer or Colorado on for free, then I would think about it.
Anyone got a GMC they need delivered to LA?

Thanks Ken. I guess no one knows what caused the dropping oil pressure on Dan's coach, ...or if they do, no one is saying. How was it established that a new motor was warranted?
I'm looking for less expensive ways to correct this issue should it every happen to my GMC.
Thanks again,
Howard

I guess I would also like to hear about Dan's engine malfunction. I would be tempted to do what Dan is doing....put in a new one, but it would be good to know what caused the oil pressure drop in the old engine. I assume that there has not been any sort of autopsy done on the old engine, which is most likely still living in the engine room of Dan's coach. But yes, what is found would be useful to everyone. (I lost oil pressure on a trip right before Christmas, from Hannibal, MO to Springfield, MO.....only I was at 5,000' and decided to land at the nearest airport, 20 miles from home....these things tickle my curiosity...and I am no longer a GMCer, but you never know, might get another one....).

I suspect it was a peace-of-mind decision on Dan's part. A new engine
is warranted (and warrantied) and can be installed in much less time
than it takes to resolve the issues with this, since Dan is on the
road.
And I don't think they'll know what went wrong on the old until they
pull it and take it apart, which they may not even do. They may just
bundle it up and send it back as the core, though the problem may be
apparent when they remove the sheet metal.

Larry,
I've been following this and so far, as near as I have read, there
has been no diagnosis.

What Rick said.
I am not in a good mood right now. Some punk kid adjuster for Progressive is treating me like I am some kind of criminal. I am not happy. I will get happy when I get out of the shower and look at my lovely bride.
