G’day,

I fixed it!

Both the Dell desktop and Gateway laptop computers we have here in Australia
were purchased just before we left Houston to retire here in 2002. I checked
and I'm running Microsoft Outlook 2002 SP3.

Microsoft Office 2002 has a 2 gigabyte size limit on the .pst file where all
the data associated with the program is filed. As it turned out I had hit
1.9 GB and that was the problem. I suspected that the problem was in my
Jokes folder where I save jokes. I exported it and then deleted it. The
exported file was over 1 GB!

I then deleted the Jokes folder and compacted the .pst file.

As you can see I'm up and running again.

Needless to say I ain't savin' jokes NO MO!

Once again I apologize for the "stutter."

By the way evidently Outlook 2003 and later have a 20 GB capacity on the
.pst file.

Regards,
Rob Mueller

Rob, I uninstalled all of my MS Office Products and downloaded Sun Micro systems "Open Office". It is free and does everything MS does only better. Have been using it for several years and never had a glitch.Main benefit, Open office is not bloated like MS.
JWID, your experience might be different.

I've been using Open Office at my office as well, it works great. I like how you can save files directly to a PDF format.

We have a couple of PC's equiped with Office for those times when we get sent Office docs with "entensions".

Other free (or low cost) software we use:
- Thunderbird for emails and calendar
- Firefox for browsing
- Foxit for PDF's
- Gadwin PrintScreen for screen captures
- Cadopia Intellicad, AutoCad workalike
- Password Safe for storing logins and passwords
- Eagle for schematics and PCB's (we have licence, but there is a free version)
- Irfanview for photo editing.

Now just have to get you to try Ubuntu or one of the other Linux
distributions to replace Windows.
