Does anyone have the dimensions for the genset compartment at their fingertips? I have to drive a little while to get to mine and thought I'd try asking here first.

Any experience with an Onan Emerald unit?

Randy,
I do not have the dimensions at my fingertips But I did have Camping
World install the Emerald 6500 unit in my 73 Painted Desert.
It has all the controls at the front and they did not install with a
slide out as my coach came without one.
Seems to be OK without the slideout feature.
The original control wiring was OK to use, they just put in the new
inside start switch where to original was and all works great.
I had it installed back in 2000 and it was on a buy it now and
installition free promotion. It took most of the day with 2 men
working on its install.
I've got about 350 hrs on it now and would do it again.

When I measured my 26ft Palm Beach, the generator compartment was about 17" tall, 28" deep, and 40" wide. You have to take into account the house batteries are also in that space, but the generator part is about 25" wide. Of course, if you decide to leave the slide-drawer in, that will affect all the above measurements, but all the current generators are made to be serviceable from the front (that I've seen) I fit a Prime-pact 50 in with very minor modifications (just had to make some brackets and grind the lip from the aluminum floor rails).
