Manny Traveo is the GMC transmission guru. He is just south of Fremont ,CA
and rebuilds GMC transmissions exclusively. He does a great job. I have one.
He always has ones ready to go in case you break down and can ship anywhere.
Prices are pretty darn good. If I broke down I would definitely get a Manny
trans shipped to where ever I was instead of having a local yokel rebuild
mine.

Thanks

Gmcers,

Being a less fortinate on here who cant post photos.

There are no "less fortunates" on this list. We are glad to have every GMC owner, or wanna be. Pictures are not good for this list. That is the reason, or one of them, that we have the GMC photo site that bdub takes care of. For free, if you choose, you can look at photos for a year, every night, on that site. Upgrades or just good pictures of work that GMC folks have done. Before I do a job I search the photo site and study someone else's work before I attempt it. I used to abuse the site with pictures until I started my own blog. Now Teri and I post our pictures there, especially those that do not relate to GMC stuff. I do still put up rally pictures and work on our coach at bdub's site. It will get several as Miguel takes on our problem here later in the week. WE make donations to help bdub keep it up as it is a very useful tool.
Manny is one of many GMC folks that does good deeds for members. Most good deeds are never publicized and that is as it should be. I have begged Manny many times for a new transmission but he says I don't need one so he won't sell me one til mine gives me problems.

Hi All
This fall I got a Tranny for my 78 Birch from Manny. I didn't get it
installed till late fall and I only have about 100 miles on it but it
seems fine. Dealing with Manny was a pleasure. He knows his
transmissions and helpful on the install.I would buy from him again..

P.S. has a sense of humor :-)

Here is Manny at Quartzsite thanks to Dan and Teri's blog:

Bert is in the foreground. Manny is then next one back (the funny looking one) and Faye is hiding behind Manny. All joking aside Manny is truly one of the best GMCers around. If you ever get the chance, check out his coach with the slide out or left front driver's door or TV in the ceiling.

Ken, don't you think that Manny has one of the most thought out, and laid, out interiors you have ever seen? It is awesome, the perfect GMC interior in my book.

I like his coach. I'm jealous because he has so much more ability than I do and he uses it so constructively. Another one like Manny is Ken Henderson.

Good luck on the engine. I'm hoping the engine is repairable in place rather than having to install a rebuilt one. I hoping for a valve or oil pump problem.

If you end up pulling a head, please take some pictures of the built up glass like garbage in the cylinders from burning that synthetic oil.

I meant to take to picture of that stuff on the VW engine we tore down at the the airport that was burning synthetic oil. We I came back a couple of days later with a camera someone had already sent the cylinders and pistons to the scrap yard.

Good Luck

Ken

Jeez,

When Manny reads all these messages his hat size is going to go up! ;-)

Ah what the hell I might as well add to the list of kudos!

He also:

* developed mods for the TH-425 to improve performance & reliability
* rebuilds 3.21 to 1 planetary gear final drives
* built a test stand to check his rebuilt transmissions on
* installed a slide out in his GMC
* installed an entry / exit door next to the drivers seat in his GMC

From what I understand he doesn't do pictures.

Steve,

Hmm, guess he needs to reduce the amount of amber liquid he consumes.

I brought a six-pack to his garage the last time I visited only to discover
he keeps a keg on tap in a chiller in his workshop!

Steve,

Hmm, guess he needs to reduce the amount of amber liquid he consumes.

I brought a six-pack to his garage the last time I visited only to discover
he keeps a keg on tap in a chiller in his workshop!

Rob, Manny does not do pictures but I do. Maybe I can dig up a few but not until after he delivers the parts from Jim. He is saving me a 6 hour trip, one way. Do not want to upset him, yet.
