G'day,
I told a fib in my original message; I had started planning this summer's
tour of the USA on my own and didn't tell Helen the route before I sent in
the message below.
Over dinner I mentioned to Helen that I had put together a plan of a tour to
the west and had received a bunch of great suggestions from the GMC net. She
listened closely but noted that she had some "druthers."
She noted that I had pasted Kentucky, South Carolina on the map of places
we've been in the GMC and that it was "FALSE ADVERTISIZING!" She also had
some other places in the south that she wanted to see so it appears that we
will not be traveling around the west but will be traveling around Dixie
this summer!
I was also informed that since it was still cold when she got back to Sydney
in late August last year that she would rather postpone the trip a bit.
I mentioned that the GMCMI Convention would be held in DuQuion, Illinois
from September 24 through the 29th and since she had such a great time at
the Harrington Convention she wants to attend. As a good hubby her wish is
my command! IT BETTER BE, EH!
At any rate I wanted to thank those of you who have offered a place to stay
and suggestions as to where to go and what to see along the western route
and not to worry your inputs have been saved and will be used in 2011 or
whenever I am told we are going there! ;-)
Over the next week I will put together a route plan, however, this time it
will be in CLOSE COLLABORATION with the "tour directress." When WE'RE done I
will solicit input from y'all again! ;-)

G’day,
Helen and I have started planning our 2010 summer tour to the USA.
Helen likes to take a couple months so our tentative time frame is early
June and to early August.
We’ll get Double Trouble out of storage in Humble, Texas and head north to:
Oklahoma
Kansas
Nebraska
South Dakota
North Dakota
We’ll head west over to Montana then south to:
Wyoming
Colorado
New Mexico
Texas
We will do our homework and check tourist destinations for all the states to
come up with a route plan.
If anyone can recommend things that are a "MUST SEE" in any of these states
please let us know.
FYI Helen enjoys museums (especially art), craft shows, and historical
homes. I enjoy accompanying her to those as well as car, motorcycle,
aircraft museums. What do you expect from a petrol head!
