I'm afraid this isn't very impressive -- I have to be careful at every stop
sign to avoid more than this:

Well since you are calling me out, let's see a video of your rig. Its gotta be a stock or mostly stock 455 and final drive though. And no use of ebrakes...

Shan,

I had no idea that was you -- nor anyone else here.

But, I assure you that my 23' with 0.030" over bored, well tuned 455 and
3.55:1 final drive will smoke the tires on ANY start if I punch it -- and
continue a lot longer than I'm willing to allow; tires are too expensive for
that foolishness. And I don't even HAVE an emergency brake.

Oh -- talk to me again when I get the Cad 500 installed shortly. :-)

Ken, your starting to make me envious! I really need to get rid of that 3.07 gear, its way to tall for this application. that said considering the front wheels has as much weight on it as an entire toronado, I find it totally amaing that it makes enough torque to peel the tires at all! you dont see any Winneboxo's that can do that Smile

I should also add that with the old stock Q-jet the tires would never break like that.

and also as soon as I can afford to I'm thinking of getting a nice caddy Smile

PS: if you look at some of my other videos, you can see that im a bit of a gearhead who's totally addicted to Speed! hehe

Ken,
You may find that your 3.55 Fd is a little to tall for the 500...especially in your 23'. Many of us with the 500 are now running the 3.21, and find it to be quite satisfactory. I'm running the 3.21 with a 245 tire...a FD ratio I calculate to be around 3.03. JWID

Could be. I've still got one or two FD's, ratio unknown, probably 3.07,
maybe 2.73, that I can try if I'm not happy. I think I even know where I
get a 3.21 pretty cheap.

A point of clarification: I've always associated "tall" with a low ratio
(2.73) and "short" with a high ratio (4.11). Everyone choose up sides &
we'll have a short vs tall contest. :-)
