We are really going to have fun now. Fin and Mary arrived this afternoon. He gave me the "scoop" on winning the GMC Pinewood Derby.

I just spent an hour up at Rice Ranch. They have 22 or 24 coaches there tonight. A good crowd around the fire. Should be a fun weekend here. Come on over if you can.
The guy parked next to me is an Onan rebuilder. Does it as a hobby. He sold Chris his Onan. Very nice guy and he gave me a couple of tips to keep our's running for a long time.

Gene,
The one thing I remember I am sure yall already know. But, he told me to always run the Onan carb dry. Says to put a shut off switch on the fuel pump and let the Onan suck it all out. He also uses the primer switch so he has a double throw switch. One side for prime, center run, and other side cutoff.
I will get more from him as the week goes on.
Oh, he said one reason the Onans catch coaches on fire is the exhaust, on some of them, cracks the manifold up at the top. Showed me where to watch when we were looking at mine.
Probably stuff everyone but me already knew. Very Happy

While I haven't heard of anyone recommending it, I do unplug the fuel pump and run the carb dry when I think it'll not be run again anytime soon. Reduces the residue from evaporating gas. A switch is a "even better" idea.

I haven't heard about the cracks in the exhaust manifold. I would like any information you can capture... good to keep the troll under control.

Dan-
Would you try to get a simple wiring diagram for that switch.
It would require cutting and/or jumpering a couple of circuits.
I like the idea!.
Wish we were out there with you guys.

You must have met Jerry. Great Guy. He Has a big Fifth wheel, however he may have brought his class C. He told me to run it dry too. I did that after I got it home, and I have been doing that with my '76 85HP Johnson Outboard since the '80's and that boat never has needed any carb or engine work to date except a solenoid. I figured everyone already did that, but I guess not? Works for lawnmowers too.

Hope the weather permits us to visit this weekend...

Yea, Jerry. I sent you a couple of private emails yesterday, Chris. I met him out here last year but did not know he fooled with Onans. He would like to have some old ones to tinker with. He laughed about Chris' unit because he lost money on it. I told him Chris got a real deal on it and he laughed.
Jim, Gene can make a drawing of the on/off/run switch. You should have come out. So far, weather has been great. Windy this morning.
